So this is my newly acquired 2000 model E39 540i/6
It all started a couple of months ago when a certain orinocco blue e39 530i went on sale. Alas I was late to the party and the car went to another fanatic. The regret I felt for missing out on that car cannot be expressed enough. I mean I really thought I would never find something that unique and in that condition ever again. There was a hole in my chest, and I feared that nothing would ever be able to fill it...
Fast forward a couple of months and lo and behold this 540i 6 gets put on Gumtree. Now the M Sport LCI orinocco blue 530i is one thing, but a MANUAL, pre-LIC 540i with the factory body kit is something else entirely. And it had only done about 140k kilometers. It had barely been run in!
I immediately called the owner up and arranged to view the car. We met and I think we had a very good relationship from the start, but the car. Oh my word the car!! As mint as the paint. Tight, responsive and eager to go.
After a test drive, I immediately started the ball rolling on getting it into my garage. There were a number of issues, but the owner sorted them out. The biggest scare was an error that could have meant an ABS unit failure, but it was just a wheel sensor.
I cant believe that I went from fearing that I would never have the chance to own a rare emerald to owning a magnificent diamond.
So without further ado, here it is...
