Some more progress

After fitting the ZF transmission and larger prop shaft the car started squeeling like a pig everytime I reverse and everytime I let off the throttle while in gear.

Flippen annoying!!! After lots of trial and error, removing stuff, rechecking and refitting…I finally found my problem!!! Rear U-Joint is gone

This is exactly what she does and im now on the lookout for another ZF prop shaft as BMW ones are not serviceable...Anyone got one to donate

[video=youtube]

In other happenings I removed the head and sent it off to the engineers for a rebuild….In the process broke my Radiator end tank:cry:

My pride and joy is a total mess right now...Cant wat to get her back on the road

missed a few updates here

Car is on the road again and better than ever. Had the valve stem seals done and got some port matching done as a bonus...this update is more on the BBS style 29 rims though.

I had them up for sale because I wanted to purchase some very good CH reps...had a change of heart when I test fitted them :=):

Decided that I want to go OEM and still be a little different. Had some 225/45/17 tyres left from a previous life and mounted them to the wheels...nice and meaty all around (no stance comments please:RedNo:) ...and no, I'm not lowering anything

Does not make for an aggressive looking ride but they really suit the vehicle IMO...Just one pic for now

Man!!! Been a while since i updated anything here...(small update to get myself going again)

Between buying my first house, working on my e30 project, daily driving the vert and working for a boss (eish), ive had no time for her and its starting to show. Its my only working car right now and I have no choice but to drive it and expose it to winter weather. Just look at the state :smashScreen:

IMG_20150531_085346.jpg

This said, Ive merely shifted the goal post but plans are still as they were. Hard to find parts are slowly but surely coming in:

- about two months ago I bought original m3 Skirts

IMG_20150520_204434.jpg

- Then a massive Thanks to Mr Capetonion for finding a set of vader seats and passing the find on to me :clapper:

IMG_20150706_053048.jpg

needs some TLC but after just a clean its already looking much better than the picture above

Thanks for looking :coolShake:

slight shift of focus

Im a junk collector now:rollsmile:

I needed a new shell for my e30 project thats been rusting away:

20130824_124220.jpg

so i started a thread and put the word out on gumtree. A guy from Atlantis responds with this pic:

IMG-20150505-WA0007.jpg

Price was right and so I drove to Atlantis and towed it home.

almost as soon as i got home I started to strip and replace parts with the "best" i had :tiptoe: Doors, bootlid, interior etc
This little project is all about the fun of doing it and im really going the hobo route as far as budget is concerned

The car is now a mix of black and white

IMG_20150908_180532.jpg

IMG_20150908_180501.jpg

The car will be all white...or black? as soon as I get it all sanded...make life a little easier for the backyard spraypainter

thanks for laughing

With no engine and no gearbox I played with the idea of fitting an m50 or even m20. it had to be a plug and play swap as i dont have much time and cannot allow myself to overspend on this pile...after more thinking I scrapped the engine swap idea and proceeded to fit the existing m40b18...afterall If this stalwart of a motor did not fire up a few months ago, all of this would have been on a heap right now.

Got the cool engine hoist from hire it:

IMG_20150801_091738.jpg

little tip for those who didnt know this...if you hire the hoist on a friday afternoon after 14:00 and have it delivered, you'll pay R160 for the whole weekend as they'l only collect on the monday

Anyway, got on with business

Carried on going till late Saturday night but engine was to be snug in its new home before the sun came up again :cartel:

IMG_20150802_183123.jpg

Wiring was a mess and took me a week to figure out. I hate aftermarket alarms and immobilizers :RedNo:

Car eventually started and I actually drove it all the way to the exhaust shop with open headers...really should have made a video of that. yes i did look like an idiot but id be lying if i said it wasn't fun.

I still need a new cam, front bumper, lip and fog lights

Next up is a budget paint job and then engine clearance and then i guess im done:coolShake:

Thanks for looking...need to get back to my vert now :sorry:

Back to the e36

Got the suspension sorted. Went for new monroe Reflex Dampers and Koni Springs all around. The car feels really natural with them. No knocks or bumpiness...

IMG_20151031_154552.jpg

Not low at all but feels so much more controlled!

Also test fitted the borbets and it looks ok but I have too much tyre

A friend of mine joked and said with all that rubber the car reminds him of this...

To get the buffalo thing to die down I went and did something i never thought i'd do...

devil stuff :sneaky:

Fitted to my 10j rear wheels some 215 tyres :fencelook:

It works now with minimal scraping and did the same in front but used 205 tyres as they are 8.5J

summer prep continues!!!

Was bored yesterday so i finally took my vader seats apart

The plan is to swap the vader stuff onto the frames of my current lux seats. Reason being my vaders have modified frames...extra brackets welded and im assuming it was for e30 use.

After struggling to find a diy specific to my seats, i just started to unbolt things as they made sense :fencelook:

Started here

IMG_20151122_155719.jpg

ended up with the vaders looking all tik skinny like this:

Thanks Gents

I dont know about these vaders though...first impression, they look good but my lux seats are 10000000x better when it comes to comfort

something i'll get used to perhaps...or not :dunno:

I finally got the front a little lower by installing E90 Tophats...Rides well and the 10mm drop it allowed was exactly what I needed..

FYI E90 Drop hats are R230each at BMW

IMG_20151212_130032.jpg

Compared to E36(black) hats

IMG_20151212_140823.jpg

All done and installed
