Here is a quick picture of the rear subframe and diff back in the car with the solid mounts.

Note the subframe has been raised 12mm, and the spacers to allow use of the subframe locking/safety plate are placed underneath. Just need to get some braided lines, and a new eccentic bolt washers from the laser cutters and it can go back together.

Then I can finally put it back together and move it, so I don't have to roll around in the dirt!

Here is also a sneak peak at the beginning of the new fuel system. 45lt cell in the boot, although in the future I'm going to get a tank made up with a fuel sender, at some aviation tank place.

Welcome Stevin, awesome projects man:thumbs:

E30's are awesome, they are responsible for BMW's success and what has made BMW magical!
Even today the 325i/325is and the rare 333i are amongst the most respected in the sports category, the E30 M3 is the most successful touring car in motorsport history!

I love E30's!!:inlove:

Small update.

A couple pictures I have from my phone. Seeing that I sold my race car I kept some of the body panels. I have fitted the carbon bonnet and bootlid.

IMG01729-20120127-1235.jpg

I have almost finished with the engine, just a couple small things that I'm waiting on that I needed water jetted, and my ally engine mounts that I need to make up.

IMG01679-20111223-1336.jpg

Sorry about the dirty block. I was cheap and didn't want to pay to get it tanked and my uncle's was busy so I just scrubbed and the reassembled.

I have newer pictures to upload of the engine, just need to get them onto the internet.

Another small update.

I had some time to kill today, so I finalised the radiator's. Yup plural. I final mounted the intercooler, engine oil cooler, engine radiator and the electric fan.

IMG01819-20120319-1622.jpg

IMG01818-20120319-1620.jpg

I also mounted up the shrouding between all the coolers and the radiator to try and keep flow through the coolers and radiator.

IMG01815-20120319-1555.jpg

Here is the fan.

IMG01821-20120319-1629.jpg

The front end back together, I have sealed the opening for the valance again the intercooler. I just need to fix the front where I cut it very jagged.

Here is an image from the vent in the bonnet down to the radiator. I should have the shroud that fits on the rear of it and my engine mounts back early next week. So I should be able to slot the engine into the bay.

Quick question, I can only afford to buy my management end of next month so would it be ok to fit the engine into the car and leave it standing for a month??

Wow...good progress. You work very meticulously

I would answer (yes) to your question. Will the car be kept undercover during the next month? Even a dedicated plastic car cover will do to keep the dust/water/debris away from your hard work so far.

You have not said much about the electrical wiring of the project...who is assisting you?

I have a car cover, but I don't really use it. My father will help me with all the wiring as he's a qualified electrician. I've pulled the entire engine harness out the car and I'm going to rewire it from there.

Not sure if I'm going to use the c101 plug or run a new fusebox for the engine side of things. Prob the latter.

Hi Stevin, Respect man! Big up to your ambition and great history with the E30's  A massive inspiration indeed. All the best with the build man, it's so good to see someone enjoying their passion as much as you do. Nothing like working with one's hands.

I figured I should probably start updating this thread again.

In the time since the update I've fitted the engine and plumbed it. I've done the hot side boost pipes.

Fitted and plumbed the boost controller, as well as cockpit mounted it.

All it really needs is management, cold side boost pipes, and an exhaust. Which will come.

The reason I stopped on the engine is I kept finding water in the drivers footwell, and this ended up in me pulling the carpet to discover some serious rust right by the accelerator pedal. So before it gets too much worse. Planned body work mods started.

I got hold of some e46 fenders, and chopped the lips off of them, and mounted them up so long, I also added the start of my aero touches. The fenders are really rough in the pictures as I had just started but it gives an idea of what I'm starting on.

In the rear I'm getting some e46 m3 front fenders to use the lips, this would be coupled to a new widended bumper skin and side skirts to help pull it all together.

I have also started to redesign my front brake disk mounting bells as the offset on them way way out, and also lightended them up. They area floating design with the float in the hat.

Snap-Hat_zps5ee6fae5.jpg

I'll have some more pictures soon, as my previous phone was stolen and my iPad takes crummy pictures.

I'm also working on getting a set of BBS LM's for the car which I'm stoked as they are one of my all time favourite wheels.
