Hello to all
One of my first actual post or thread so to say
So , its a 1990 318i Plastic bumper
bought it from a one owner Lady.
car still had the old pink papers.
she had 145***kms with full service history at the agents ....
So first things first was a full service
and thereafter found a set of coilovers , drove it for just over a month and the power bug started biting :roflol:
looked at a few options and decided that i was going the multivavle route.
sourced an m52b25 single vanos motor and out came the m40
about 8 months down the line after 2 mechanics messing me around the car came alive once again .
like all conversions have problems , we came across where the motor was too front and the viscous fan kept on hitting the radiator and breaking thus causing serious damage to the bonnet ,
spoke to few guys and finally opted for an electric fan
changed the rear drums to discs
had to buy a 2nd hand 325 rear suspension
As i was on a budget we decide to leave the original 318 diff and gearbox
thus meaning short gear ratios
slapped on a set of 15s which i had laying around and here we are today .
just came back from Durban with the car and she hadn't skipped a beat , not one drop of oil or water was used ...
so the outcome ,,,
Pros:car made 108kw at JMS in Benoni
pulls nice and strong
extremely reliable even with electric fan
loves to throw its ass all over
cons ; super heavy on petrol but i still love it
Thanks for reading guys
Hope to update soon again
all suggestions welcome
