Hi Guys,

This is my first BMW. :excited:

Being a lover of classic cars, I decided to purchase this 1982 BMW 518i.

She still needs a good cleaning, and I will do so over the coming weekends. :)

There are many odds and ends to sort out:
- Pulls slightly to the left upon braking
- Hard starting when cold
- Clutch hydraulics need attention
- Some interior items must be found and replaced

Good looking car you have there

Edit: Just noticed, that is a pretty low mileage a '82 model car

Hi Wayne,

Nice to see you here! I am still looking for my first BMW! You will see that the guys are more relaxed over here than on the other forum! Your 518i looks really nice.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the kind words!

So far I am loving the car, but the old K-Jetronic system is not what it used to be back in the day. Cold starting is difficult at times and also, with a warm engine after standing for about 30 minutes and more, I also have hard starting. I suspect leaking injectors or a worn fuel pressure regulator.

I have compiled a to-do list to get the old lady back to her former glory!

Greg, somehow I just thought that I would stumble into you somewhere. You have been quiet on the "other forum". :)

:shocked: Such a clean E12. :drool::drool:

My father owned a 1983 528i in that colour. Wish he had kept it.
I see yours has the E28 based interior also.

What is this "other forum" you talk of?

Thanks guys!

So far, I'm really having a great time with my E12. It seems that some parts will have to come from Europe, because the E12's have quite a following there.

Thanks Adi. Will contact you if I need anything! :)

@ Uber Soldat: I also have a guy who is opening up a spares shop soon. He will be dealing with Audi/VW/Mercedes/BMW spares. :mmm:

The parts are manufactured by Meyle and are very good quality at good prices. I will PM you the contact details.

Thanks!

Yes, the wheel is upside down because the wheels are turned. I didn't think of fixing the position of the steering wheel before taking the pics. In hindsight, I should have fixed it... :slap:
