My BMW story

Good day everyone.

I would like to introduce myself and briefly discuss my BMW story.

My passion for the German machine dated way back to my childhood days when my dad owned a clean example of an e12 520i. During those years very few vehicles could match the superb quality and luxury of the e12. I remember the amount pride I used to take as a little boy washing the e12 on Saturdays to ensure that during my families Sunday drive, the beemer is spotless.

A while later, after completing school, I had the pleasure of owning my very first BMW. The car itself was a E30 318i but had a transplant that seen the original motor be replaced by a 2.0 16v motor found in the 318is e36. The motor had been turbocharged and the car packed a serious punch. I was soo in love with this car that I could remember washing it almost every time a spec of dust settled on it. It was truly an amazing sleeper.

I eventualy sold the e30 and replaced it with an E36 318is Motorsport.

After having the E36 for a period of time I soon forced to sell the car to buy a "cheaper car to maintain"(according to my dad), so that I could use it to University. I was really sad to see her go...

Since then I had owned a number of cars(different manufacturers) but that special love for a BMW only grew during my time of not owning one. What kept me going is the fact that in a short while I would be able to own one again.

Just as I thought soon enough I was behind the wheel of an E90 320d. This time it had been something different, but boy has this grown on me. The torque from the little 2.0d is quiet amazing. During two years of ownership the Beemer has been really good. Recently added a set of 19inch wheels. The effect..... an unusual amount of turning back after locking car in a parking lot... simply amazing. I heard someone once say" if you jump off your car without looking back at least once when walking away, then you're driving the wrong car.

Plans for the future is to have it remapped... already has downpipe.

Last but not least... this forum is truly amazing. I have been a silent member for a while always wanting to do a proper introduction before interacting. Finally...

Looking forward to an unending journey in a BMW and many chats with fellow fanatics.

Thanks for reading.

Awesome intro! Welcome :)
" if you jump off your car without looking back at least once when walking away, then you're driving the wrong car. " Love this line! Haha I do this all the time , more so with the E30 though .... now a little too much with the E46 ... then I go back and double check that its locked !
