My 530d M-Sport (Detail and wheels update pg 11)

For those that are following this thread..., I changed disks and pads at the end of August 2016 fitting ATE disks and Textar pads. The pads have bedded in well and I am quite happy with them for my purposes.
Here you can see the OEM and the ATE disk side by side.
You will notice the OEM disk still has a somewhat silver coating on it and the ATE looks shiny and new.
I was disappointed to find it like this just 3 months later ( ok i noticed it deteriorating from the time i fitted them).
I know there are other better options but this was best for me at time, would have loved to have them power coated, but not sure what temp they have to bake at... So since i had a gap during the christmas period i tried my best to find High heat silver, the best i could find was rated at 400C. My plan was to paint them on the car, but then realised in order to mask properly i would have to remove the calipers, which left me one bolt away from removing them..... which i did. I specifically chose not to paint my calipers, I want to retain the OEM look.
Took my trusty drill and wire brush and spent the better part of the day bringing it back. Here you can see the difference with just a wire brush.
I then masked them , which also took more time than i expected.
I painted them and also baked them at 70degrees as per the instructions on the can, but i guess a few drives would serve the same purpose.
Fitted everything and wheels back on the car
Its been almost a month.., 2 car washes.., decent amounts of rain and now signs of any issues.

Nice, been thinking of doing this as well.
Do really think the masking is needed, the pads would grind of the excess paint chop chop. Maybe use old pads to clean up the over spray and not contaminate the new ones?

Nicely done... I also hi heat spray the new discs before i put them on a car. it just looks neater.

I did spray and remove the masking as quickly as possible, mainly because there was still some paint that seeped through and i wiped it off. For some reason the aerosol paint i used, is not capable of light coats. The paint recommends NOT using primer and i found it thicker than normal aerosols.

I had Textar before, so essentially the same , in terms of dust, when i had the normal silver wheels, one would see the dust after one drive, but it still looked decent after a week of driving. The current wheels are darker so you dont see that dust. I dont think it is bad. I have ferodo on my VW and even though its a stock wheel with very little space for the dust to come through, it does..., and it squeaks. THe textar doesnt squeak.

I managed to find the Textart pads cheaper than what i could get Safeline pads......:coolShake:

Not much improvement on this car,in fact my list of things to do is growing from a new windscreen, front badge, repair rear bumper on the cosmetic side and mechanical the list is longer but at least I am collecting parts...I did get the m stripes fitted though.

I also tried a new product, I was more curious about its benefits than anything else. Its a product by made by mafra called polish express. It claims to give just polished results but it's a wash...
I'm the second pic, I just washed the left half of the bonnet and one already see the beading benefits. The third pic is after doing the entire bonnet. The product itself doesn't create a lot of suds which I am used to in a wash. The feel of the product is also quite different, seems more oil like in viscosity, but has oily residues or anything.
Once it is applied and washed as per 2 bucket method, the difference is quite apparent. Wiping the car is similar to a just waxed car but unfortunately I was not able to compare the other benefits they claim the product is capable. From what I have seen this far and based on the cost of the product, I would consider using this every 4 to 5 washes so probably twice or thrice between waxing . The after pics are actually in my previous post but my car has not been waxed or polished in over 9 months.
