10000km later:

The bad:

There is a foul smell when using the aircon sometimes. BMW replaced the pollen filter but the smell, although reduced isn't gone.
The panel gaps are not consistent on the bonnet and door panels. Nothing obvious but I don't like it. Seems to be an issue with other F30 LCI's
Rattles from the doors when the sound is turned up more than 35%. This really irritates me as it sounds like a Mk1 golf with 12-inch subs in the boot.

The Good:
The response is fantastic!
Fuel consumption is better than my 335i and Z4 with my best runs to the office and back yielding 6.4L per 100km.
Stock power is +- 255wkw. I wasn't expecting that.
I had the M Performance back box fitted. It had a noticeable grunt to the exhaust tone but not enough for me.
I now have the M Performance Power and Sound kit installed. The exhaust note is more suited to the cars power level IMO.
I have been using the connected drive app more than I anticipated. Especially the located vehicle and climate control feature.
The car is comfortable cruising around at 1100 rpm in ECO pro mode. Not sure if this is good or bad for the car or gearbox.

Mods:
I have fitted the Blacked out grills and Carbon exhaust tips. I have the M performance spoiler and rear diffuser too fit when I find some time.
Performance mods are just not needed now. The power levels are enough to land me in trouble if I'm not careful. I have a downpipe lying around but I think the car will be way too loud with the new exhaust system. So that won't be fitted.
I can honestly see myself leaning towards cosmetic mods rather than performance mods for the foreseeable future. Time will tell. Right now I just want a set of 666M rims and an M performance steering wheel.

Development:
Nope. Maybe when the car is off MP.

Part of me wants to broom the car and get an Audi R8 V8 and twin turbo it.
Also considering a Golf Mk5 R32 twin turbo build.

Now at 32000km.
This is the best daily driver and stock car I have owned.
Returning 7.6l per 100km currently. This is 70% highway driving.
Overall consumption from day one is 8.6.
I have removed all the mods because the car is putting down +350whp in stock form and it's more than enough for now.
Only the M Performance exhaust remains.
I did put down 302wkw and just under 600nm. Setting the car up initially is a royale Pain. It's so different from the N54. Because of the torque limits, you can t just dial up the boost with some octane. Then there's the AFR management, which is extremely difficult to get down. Adding straight BP98 did nothing for me. Meth helped a little only when you use a progressive spray. Going past 17psi is a waste. Heavens help you if the car gets hot.
All of this for 50 to 60whp. Not worth it IMHO.

Most of the issues are resolved with a Stage 2 Flash which is a $450 expense but the gearbox remains the limiting factor. A gearbox flash is currently $500.
If you are willing to part with $1000 and your motor plan the b58 should give you 100whp over the stock figure. I don't know anyone who is willing to do that yet.
In a years time once the cars start coming of MP we should start seeing a few monsters lurking IMO.

This what is could achieve consistently without any issues.
Not worth the grey hair or maybe I am just getting old and complacent.

After a considerable amount of research I decided to opt out.
I did keep up the new ride today though.
