my 330i is back...sort of

so in december i got into a altercation with a truck , who "pushed" me while we were standing in traffic.

damage looked much worse than it is...

fast forward to 6 January when i took the car in , and many battles to get it back i finally got it delivered today.

i considered my 330i to be among the best in the country , but the body shop just fcuked the football completely on this one.

1. had full service kit in the car - it was stolen (plugs , oils , filters , serpentine belt) and goodness knows why i left it in the car...idiot
2. DIRTY , white dust all over , inbetween seat piping , dash , just everywhere.
3. my mint seats are scratched and also covered in white dust
4. driver window button missing
5. DIRTY
6. purple paint on left rear mag
7. DIRTY
8. paint blending job looks terrible
9. DIRTY
10. right rear door sounds like a chico golf....it was a replacement door but sounds very clunky. allignment is perfect so is there anything that can be replaced to get that solid sound back

everything not visible on photo , but i'll have some money to spend in the coming months to get her back into tip top condition.

good thing is, last year we were in the brink of financial ruin , but thanks to a lot of prayer and work we're out of the hole and looks like i will have some spare cash each month to spend on her.

Includes but not limited to:
new fog lights + surrounds (cant find the damn things anywhere under R4000)
repaint front bumper due to chips
detail & paint correction
repaint mesh in front bumper , its starting to fade a bit
highlight and tail light restore...still looks very good but also starting to fade a bit

once the above is done i think we'll be back in the top 5 330i's in the country


would like to do an excede flash as well

oh , and they could not find the diffuser for the rear bumper so i'll need to scour for that, maybe look at importing from the UK ?

Did you pay the panelbeater in full before inspection?
Buy aftermarket spots & surround. aftermarket rear diffuser.
Good that you're still in it...i walked away from my lowish mileage (160k), immaculate 330i individual after a tiny prang, it wouldnt be the same after being resprayed on certain panels. Oh and it was Auto...had it been manual i might have considered keeping it.

Well at least the damage is repaired... From looking at the pic, it seems to required further finishing to blend in properly (wet sanding and buffing). I would suggest getting it detailed and including that additional work while it's there?

unfortunately paid them in full when i took the car in.

so friday she's getting nice service , will claybar the repaired panels.

she still drives as beautifully as ever , smooth as rama butter. in essence she's still the same old faithful silky smooth 330i , with not a lot of money she will be back to her former glory.

think it was a kak fix to do , but they did it well , its just the finishing touches that are not on par


on further inspection there is smaaaaall primer spatter on the seats
and they were obviously standing with their knees on the seats , can see the indentations so hopefully it will return to normal shape after some time ?


i bought the autostyle fogs and surrounds , but they dont fit.

any ideas where to start looking for the diffuser and fogs ?

Clunky door. Maybe the sound deadening is not stuck on the inside of the door skin. Its a type of material not sure what it is but it asorbs sound and makes the door sound more solid when taping on the skin you should notice a difference of you compare doors

This thread makes me really appreciate my VERY CLEAN....but not Mint 330i.

If that was my car, I would still be crying.

At least mine has a few imperfections and if it gets smashed, I would be pissed off......but not ruined because of it.

I hope the actual repair work was carried our properly, because based on how they treated your ride they seem like abunch of ass clowns.

This is one of my worst fears especially with the stolen parts and all, I'm glad there's light at the end of your tunnel. She'll be back up and perfect in no time.
