and parts easy to source?
Reasonably priced or?

I try get as much from BMW as possible but sometimes the parts are no longer available.
Depending on the part ill source second hand which hasn't been very difficult.
Prices for new original parts are crazy for even the smallest thing but i'm sure that is the same across all models.
You can get cheap aftermarket parts but you end up replacing them within a year.

We really need to keep in contact!

I can draw so many comparisons from what you've said - I am self busy getting my E34 535i sorted.

I also have a similar setup with my exhaust. It would be interesting to hear how yours sound!

Maybe we can start our own E34 support group :)

Who else has an e34 on here?
I know of yourself, Adi, fordkoppie and can't remember who else.
The more people we have that can offer advise the better.

Some updates from the body shop

New front end test fitted, i think it looks really good compared to the old photo's

Can see the car had lots of dents and the new back door fitted.

Looking good. Do you have the new bonnet that goes with that grill?

I do, its at the body shop with the car just haven't fitted it yet.
The old bonnet was trash so even if i wasn't changing to the wider grill i would still have needed a bonnet so this wide grill upgrade was perfect.
I'm still waiting on the 540i brake ducts to arrive from BMW, hoping next week sometime it should arrive.

Yay, big brake upgrade!

e34's need better brakes, however mine is quite good standard. Just makes a squealing noise when hot though. :(

Do you have any parts at home that you'd like to sell? Maybe there's something i can salvage for my car?

My brakes are alright, they squeal when cold, but could do with some stronger ones.
I had a spare clutch which i sold and the old gearbox that was run without oil but i gave that away to the guy that bought the clutch.
Otherwise i will have a spare door that the body shop fixed by mistake, spare window for that door and some trimmings.
The front bumper that was on the car can be sold if anyone is keen on salvaging it, does need quite a bit of work to repair but it is a motorsport bumper so don't just want to dump it.
And the old front grills will also be sold.
That's all i can think of for now that i have.

A couple more that own them:
Sankekur - I think he still owns LZ's old 540i 5 speed and a 540i 6 speed.
Uber Soldat - He had quite a few at one stage including a 6 speed swapped 540i with some Schnitzer bits. Haven't seen him on here in ages though.
Cfroc - Owned a 540i 6 speed. Not sure if he still does.
BimmerMan - Owns a 1995 525i Automatic.
Danzellc - Also owned a 540i 6 speed.
Beast_Power - Another 540i 6 speed owner I think.
Danie - 540i 6 speed.
Budleigh - 540i Automatic.

I can go on...or look at this thread:

Oh..and it seems like someone is selling a complete M5 kit on gumtree.

Thanks man i forgot about a couple of these guys.
Sankekur helped me out before with some advise.

I saw the bodykit for sale but only after i had bought everything else already and would take me over budget now.
I like the look of what i'm going for in the front so i am happy about that but would love to get the side skirts and back bumper still.

Pity about the budget. I'm sure your car would look awesome with the complete kit. As Murphy would have it, its extremely difficult to find an M5 rear bumper separately these days.

Its quite a shame that nearly all of the people in that thread haven't been on the forum for quite some time or have left. This place used to be a treasure trove of info

I have been looking for a long time, the one lead i had always said they would get back to me and never did no matter how many times i followed up.
I'm not looking to make a fake M5 and put badges all over but the look appeals to me.
I like the back clean anyways without the badges and without the spoiler.

540i Brake Ducts have arrived
Still waiting on the brackets but at least they can be painted with the car until the brackets arrive.

Great to see a E34 getting the love it deserves :clapper:

Great car...

Thanks man.
Most people wouldn't put the time, effort, and money into these cars anymore but i know what a great car it is and if i look after it, it will look after me.
I have had a few requests to sell the car but i just can't i love it too much.

Got told yesterday it's still going to be another 2 weeks, i can't take the waiting anymore.
Having sleepless nights waiting to have the car back

I'm sure it will be well worth the wait...

And that motor is as strong as they get... built like a Tank.

All the best bud

So the car is finally at the paint prep stage.
owner of the shop says if he is happy with the prep today they will spray tomorrow.
1k primer the entire car first and then colour and clear.
I can't wait very excited to see it with the new colour
