My 135I DCT & questions.

Hi everyone,

First off I would like to thank the community for all their advice during the past almost a year that I had major problems after buying my BMW. And finally I can say the car is fixed 100%!!!! So quick recap of what was done:

Gearbox redone (Budler Motorsport)
New BMW Turbo (Budler Motorsport)
High Pressure Fuel Pump (Budler Motorsport)
Radiator "replaced" by William Nicol Motors that was never really done and just got the car back from local Bosch guys that fitted a proper new one.

So I have been poking around on the forum and decided that rather than posting a bunch of questions all over in other old threads I would like to ask them all in my own thread.

I am not the best with photography and would like to get some good pics of my car but this is all I have.

Its a 2010 E82 N55 135I DCT

Ok I am planning a few mods and this is where all the questions start. Bare in mind I am in Pretoria so preferred suppliers would be in Pretoria although if I dont have the option driving to Jhb wont be a problem.

Wheels:

So from the picture I don’t know if you guys can see but these are the A-Line Racer rims. Problem is that the centre caps from the front wheels have broken off and can’t seem to find anyone that can help me replace them. Plus, I would like to take off the A-Line emblem and fit BMW ones. I spoke to A-line and they want to charge R50 a cap but R400 shipping to PTA lol. Anyone that can help me out with this?

Intake
Are there any decent bolt on intake options available in SA or did all of you guys import yourselves? If so where can I find and estimated prices?

DP & Decat.
Are there any suppliers you can recommend in my area for this. Is it worth doing a 76mm pipe and DP, or would a DP and simple decat be fine? Can a decat be done without software or does it have to be done at the same time? Estimate at cost? Last quote I got was R9 500.00

Software.
I want to upgrade the software but really just want to run off normal 95. Not really interested in adding methane. Now my question is what option would be the best for the JB4 or COB. It seems the results are more or less the same. Suggested suppliers and estimated cost?

Intercooler upgrade.
This is just curiosity but are there any straight forward bolt on options and are they worth it?

Carbon build-up.
I asked around as I wanted to send my car to Carbon Doc. I know their work is great but the question is, is it really necessary on a N55 engine? Thoughts on this please. The car has 109000km on it.

M Logo
Is there any difference between the one I drive and the model that simply has the M logo on the boot and doors with no 135 badge?

Lights

Front - I would like to fit the Angel eyes but are there kits I can use to install on the exiting lights?

Rear – I like the stripes but same question are there kits or do I have to replace the light?

Navigation/Climate control

I want to upgrade the cluster. Has anyone fitted an aftermarket satnav? Wanted to see if I can fit a climate control from a wrecked car if I can find a decent one. Thoughts?

Thanks for reading. I know I am asking a lot but any help would be great.

Lovely car, please tell us more about the repairs done especially to the gearbox.
Really curious about the cost factors involved in a DCT.
A nice write up on your repair history would be a great read:clapper:

Well long story short is that the gearbox would jerk as the one clutch slipped. There was also a problem on the flywheel.

I sent it in and they reconditioned the box and replaced the clutches and that cost R45 000.00. I think they replaced the flywheel as well but I am not sure.

Then the car would go into limp mode as there was a problem with the actuator of the turbo so we replaced the turbo for approx R35 000.00

The high pressure fuel pump was done for around R14 000.00.

Ouch 45k I think this is the first time I have heard of any dct boxes getting repaired.

The 1-series coupe you are referring to with the M badge on the bootlid is the 1M which is a completely different car as it is an actual M-division car. Unless its a flea market special badge though. You will see it looks quite a bit more aggressive than a normal 1-series coupe as well. That particular car is essentially the predecessor of the M2.

You had an expensive start to your modding journey:cry:

My quick comments:
You will not have a problem with the availability of mods (used or new) for the Eseries N55 platform. You will find plenty used sales on this forum or contact the forum advertisers for prices on aftermarket products. Rennzport sells a few of the requirements on your list.

Intake: Bms is your best option. Can be imported.

DP: rennzport got an offering. This can be installed before a tune but a tune will take better advantage of the reduction in back pressure.

Jb4 or Cobb:
They not the same. Cobb ceased support to the Eseries N55 long ago and the maps that are available are outdated.

Jb4 is still the best proven tune out there.

Intercooler was my first mod. Yeah it makes a huge difference. I have compared many data logs of cars with IC and without IC and the reduction in iats and increase in power as a result of an upgraded intercooler is undeniable...more so when the motor is tuned.

Luckily the repairs were all paid by the dealer hehehe. The radiator was covered by Motorite.

I thought rennzport is down by the coast?
