@tman, purchase your service parts from BMW and get Ross or Tune-tech to carry out the required maintenance........

Agents parts are far superior to some of the aftermarket stuff out there......

Especially when it comes to cooling system parts such as hoses, water pump, expansion tank, belts, thermostat.... Pulleys etc.... Rather pay the premium and get proper parts from agents with a warranty.....

Reviving an old thread:

Friend of mine lives in CT, and his E90 just came out of plan.

Can anyone recommend a reputable service agent in CT?

Super Street Autoworx. They're based in Killarney Gardens.

Best service I've had and so much transparency as well.

Would definitely recommend.

Bump for an old thread:

I managed to DIY service my car this weekend. There are a lot of conflicting info available online in terms of how to carry out the service. I thought Id share my 2c for anyone wanting to DIY a oil change for a E90 DIESEL:

Note: I didnt manage to take pics of the actual service, my hands were to dirty to operate the phone. I used generic pics, which sould suffice.

1. Jack your car up. Get under the car, and remove the small plastic cover with a large flat point screw driver, to reveal the drain bolt under the car. Use a 17mm socket to remove the drain bolt, and drain oil.

Take note of the drainbolt. Clean, the bolt, and replace the washer. Upon purchasing a oil filter from BMW, you get a new washer.

2. The Diesels Oil filter is NOT at the same place as the petrol oil filter. If you are looking at Youtube tutolials for "E90 oil change" you are going to be confused.

When facing your engine, put 2 hands under the engine cover, and pull up and towards you. The engine cover will "pop" off and you should be able to remove it.

Look to the top, right hand side, you should see the dipstick and location of the oil filter. (I think it you require a 27mm or a 30mm to remove the filter)

Replace the old filter, with a new filter and gasket. NOTE: as with the washer for the drain bolt, you get a new gasket, when you purchase a oil filter from BMW. Tighten with socket wrench. Replace engine cover.

3. Once the oil is drained, replace the drainbolt. I also encountered quite a lot of conflicting info on the actual about of oil to the used. I phoned BMW, supplied my VIN, and they confirmed that I should use 5.2L oil for a 2011 (LCI) 320d. Replace oil, as per illustrative pic. You can also check the oil level on the dipstick after filling up.

4. Reset Service Light:

5. Be sure to still take your car for a diagnostic, and/or inspection.

If its east rand I use Nige Auto for repair work I cant do. Ive been using him for years and not once have I had a problem. He is also very busy. For any electronic work Gert is just around the corner from me. Two places I would highly recommend.

Hi guys, is Gert or any other good guys you are recommending RMI approved. I've got these shit after market warranties that require any place I use to service at be registered. I used South East Auto but I'm tired of being raped [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] by agents.
