As pimpassdaddy said forget about it and move on. At least you don't have to remove the tune now. Your car has low mileage so enjoy it and be careful not to over -rev it.:cartel:

Did they show you any form of official communique from BMW Germany about the top speed issue or from MP SA about the over revving?

It might be a dodgy sales tactic by the dealer to scare/manipulate, nearly out of plan customers into:-

1. paying cash for repairs
2. having vehicle traded in as a buyout (A M3 is usually a rare vehicle, limited no of vehicles)
3. secure purchase of another vehicle.

Think about it..........

If you where not a car-minded person, what would a non-informed person do?

I have received an official email with a letter from BMW SA.

So we can rule out the above.

This is why I will steer clear of motorplan like the plague!

Is the engine buggered, is the car mechanically damaged in any way from said "over rev event" as per the stupid electronics? How does that negate the paid for (motorplan) servicing of items unaffected? And come on, these are M Sport cars that are kinda meant to be driven, and heck, that's why cars do tend to have rev limiters, so if the engine reached red line a few times as you go through the gears, then does that mean the engine (and the rest of the car) is at risk of certain death? Fair enough, if the out of bounds revs were excessive (as in a "money shift"), then that's one thing, but if its literally around the max RPM limit then this is just a simple case of trying everything possible to dodge the requested work. And clearly, who cares about PR these days?!

how do u over rev it if it has a limiter, are they saying their limiter wasn't working.
Well, if you change the ecu's software you can change the rpm limiter as well.

But in my case it wasn't ever changed, and they got no proof that the vehicle's ecu software was ever changed the.

Come to think of it, I even had the DCT software done and nothing was ever detected.

The vehicle was never raced drag raced or tracked. Apart from being driven like a M car should time to time when it seldom got out of the garage.

Why say abuse or misuse?

And be on the lookout for knock knock jokes...
If you referring to the bearing issues. I'm doing the internals when I go with a S/C kit.

Hopefully in the new year.

Lol, good one.

So far so good thou.

Brakes will be changed out as well in time for a BBK. No need to change the pads and disks now. They still got some life in them.

Hey Ash, please can you PM me email addresses/contact details of BMW head office and BMW Germany. I also have a massive problem with a dealership but in my case the car is almost brand new (M6 GC) and I think the dealership f**ked up, well I'm 99% sure they did, which resulted in the entire engine having to be replaced. It's been 3 months now and they just send me from head office to dealership, back and forth.
