Take your car to a BMW specialist. Let them give it a once through, then take that to BMW and ask them to fix the issues. I did this with my M3 just before the MP expired.

I used to use a very well known tuner in JHB (east) until they blew my ECU and refused to pay for it to be fixed. So now i reckon you take it to Budler Motorsport.

bmw told you it would cost "roughly R34k". You need to ask them for a proper quotation, which they will base on mileage and previous claims. I believe that BMW MOTORPLAN is the best in the business, never had a hassle with them but having said that, R34k is a bit steep!

No, No...they gave me an exact system generated figure which came to 34k and some change!!

Guys, sorry to hound like this....but whats the cost of a general service? Coz I am assuming you service your cars once every 25k km, right...roughly? So 25k km is like a year....So you service once a year or not?

Thread Revival Time!

It's been 2 years since the last post, can anyone contribute new information if anything has changed since?

Especially with regards to extending motorplan with time only.

I understand that the standard Mplan is 5years with 100k km. And can be extended to 7 years / 200k km

I will call my tjommie at Leo Haese when I'm back home. Just like to get some input from you guys as well. Thanks!

Andy, if the cars mileage is past a certain point (Varies per car) then you can extend time only, otherwise its both.

My 335i is on 55K and its motor plan is expiring in 2013. I'm gonna call BMW about extending it tomorrow. Will post here what they say.

I just requested a quote to extend the MP on my Z4 for another 12 months. The car is currently at 89900 km, and I only do around 70000 km per year with it.

Leo Haese quoted R19k for another 12 months and 10000km, taking the expiry distance to 110000km.

I am waiting for their confirmation that the option to just extend the time is no longer available. I will be seriously pissed off if that is the case, as I paid R4.5k last year to have it extended by time only, which is a far more reasonable cost to insure against the unimaginable. I'm not paying R19k for 12 months if I am only going to drive the car for another 7000 km in that period.

I agree, the car will never cost you that much within the next 12 months or 10000km. Unless if it's parked outside in the rain with the roof down.

Well, well. The dealer advised me to contact BMW Customer service, who promptly quoted me R5900 to extend for 12 months with no additional mileage beyond 100000km. Since the car is now on 89000km, it looks like a good deal as I will certainly get another service squeezed in as well as any repairs that may be necessary with 12 months of peace of mind.

I was also told that there will be a 30% increase in Optional Motorplan Contracts from Oct 1, so if you were thinking of extending soon, do so before the end of this month.:thumbdo:
