Motorplan is about to expire - Need advice regarding an extended warranty

I had the option of splashing out R12K for two years of mechanical insurance on my Lexus RX350 last year, but I passed on it. So far it has worked out well. The only repair has been a new battery for the key remote at fifteen rand or so.

Hi. Check the innovation group. They give relatively ok cover. But u r responsible for maintenance and services. Where u from? Have a guy ex bmw mech that only specializes in BMWwith full diagnostic kit and genuine parts at reasonable prices, out in centurion. Good luck

I took the Innovation Group aftermarket warranty recently following the expiry of my motor plan. Please note that you can only claim after paying 3 instalments. Tick tock....:fencelook:

I got a cheap quote from innovation group but their hello peter page is insanely large with complaints. Hope it works out for you.

With that mileage and age, check the exclusions' clauses.

Hi

Apologies for reawakening this thread.

My 2012 E92 M3 M-Dynamic, M-DCT (Comp Pack) will come out of motorplan in a few days. The current mileage is ~37000km.

I'm currently facing the decision to extend the motorplan for R25k (1 yr) or to sign up for an aftermarket warranty.

The services are ~15000km away and if I do extend the motorplan, I doubt I will cover that distance in the next 12 months.

Any advice or recommendations will be appreciated.

Nothing beats the BMW Motor Plan.
Personally, I would extend it for peace of mind (having done so myself and benefited greatly),

However the fact that your car is doing such low mileage reduces your risk of claiming - so it may make sense to save the money.

Thanks Suren

I agree about the BMW MP...

I forecast a maximum of around 8000km in the next 12 months...not sure if the R25k is worth it...

I'm considering an extended warranty with Liquid Capital...R389pm.

Remember, if you want to extend the motorplan, this can only be done when the vehicle is still on plan.
Once it is out of plan then you wont be able to extend

TBH, nobody looks good on HP...how likely are you to post good service as opposed to bad service received, i take HP with a pinch of salt.

i FLAMED absa this week for cancelling a new credit card cause of their system problems, my wife is with ABSA and she says she is as happy as a pig in pooh

but that coverage looks good, i would seriously consider it!

You have a point there. It's just that with BMW it's so much easier to escalate bad service and get it sorted out. With any company that uses call centres it can be a real pain.

On another note, it may also be a good idea to ask the service consultants at BMW dealerships for advice. They usually have first hand knowledge on which companies give the customers the least hassle.
