Motorplan extension

Hi guys,

I've enquired with my dealer regarding a quote for the above & he advised that the system only allows for this when the vehicle is within 6 months of expiry.

Does anyone know the factors the influence the costing for this? I do understand that model & spec would be the base for this but want to understand the other factors & weighting.

Thanks

KM I'm sure.
Won't hurt to call around as I recall reading that the cost could possibly vary between dealers.
Anyone care to confirm?

Just go onto your BMW owner's circle and check it/do it yourself. Almost every time I post about motorplan I have to log in and show people that what the dealer claims is the process is actually wrong. It will generate many (like over a dozen) quotes for you and you can pick the combination of time and mileage you want. Generate quotes for the two or three you are keen on. Sleep on it and pay the next day.

As to what it is based on, it is probably a combination of claims on that particular car model collectively and probability.

One of the dealerships will phone you as soon as you are close to the MP expiry date, in my case 7 months before the expiry date. It's pretty straightforward. They ask for km and then send a quote. You pay and then the original MP is canceled and replaced with a new one. MP history is obviously not affected by the changes.

So extending by year is less expensive than expending by km?

I drive about 12K a year. I haven't signed the dotted line on the contract for my new BMW as I'm trying to figure out what adding another year of motor plan will cost me first. Need to know the facts before proceeding further.

If you add km it's A LOT more

Just bouncing an idea off you. You think going for the F30 320i 2013 71000 km would be a good idea if I extend the motor plan until 2019?

I figure I have peace of mind until then. I can then save up a little for things that may go wrong.

Depends I guess. If something goes badly wrong it would be better with the extended plan. If nothing goes wrong you ended up paying a lot for the next service. The car you are looking at has plan until next year so you have some time to think about it tho

I think the plan on my car (well, not my car yet :)) expires early 2018. Like Jan/Feb. Which isn't ideal, but then it has everything I want and looks very neat, like new basically and I can extend it further by 2 years (I believe).

Also lowish mileage. Sorry for intruding on this thread with my questions/concerns, I just had to ask. Thanks again.
