How does not having mp leave you stranded on the side of the road? I pay R400 a year for road side assistance...

After market 3rd party warranties are a complete waste of money. There is always a very grey area on what they consider to be mechanical failures and normal wear and tear. Oh yes, they also don't cover consequential damage, they only cover the part that broke originally. By way of an extreme example, if your engine seizes and every gear in your tranny strips, they warranty wouldn't cover the tranny at all because the engine broke.

Time extension on MP definitely worth it. I paid around R8500 for mine a year ago for the year 7 extension. I've easily racked up R40k in repairs as per their invoices. Suddenly a key stops working, then you get a funny rattle on the suspension, exhaust burns a little bit black, maybe you get a ridge on your brake discs, xenon ballast stops working and BOOM YOU ARE AT R40K. You will also easily make-up a good chunk of the money if you sell your car later on while it is still on MP vs not being on MP.

One of the joys of driving a second hand car without a motor plans is the experience of accepting that a car will develop some issues and that not all of them needs fixing.

Not sure of the exact mileage but once you hit a certain amount you have to extend by time and mileage. I think it's 70 or 80k

82000kms, they must be quoting with kms, was told 90000kms and above its mandatory to take kms with yr extensions

Greetings fanatics

I would greatly appreciate the input of my fellow fanatics, I have a 2010 320d, whose motorplan expires on 24 Jan 2015. My vehicle has 63,5XXkm on with no comments on the plan.

BMW has quoted me R9,024.13 to extend for one year, this to me seems rather steep as but would like to hear from others who have extended their motorplan's whether not this is a fair price or more daylight robbery.

a pic of my beauty attached.

cheers
Julius

I'd go for it. Peace of mind

sorry i think I came across wrong, I meant my motorplan expired but mileage is only 34k.
If I recall, I think it expired almost 2years ago.

Sorry about the confusion

Andz someone told me that if you have claimed a lot and motorplan has paid out a lot on your car then the cost to extend the motorplan is more.
basically seen as a higher risk...
dont know 100% if thats true but i have seen cars with similar mileage quoted different amounts for the same extensions so there must be other factors.
have you had a lot of expenses covered by motorplan?
