Motorplan expired...

Found a vehicle that fits my budget and tastes (2006 320d touring)

Problem is, the motorplan expired last week!
Can it be reinstated? At what cost?

Should that swing my vote in making an offer?!

MP cannot be extended at BMW once it expired. Maybe find out since it's so close. You can take out other warranties from 3rd party insurers, but usually these are not worth it.

Diesel in the touring is scarce. Go for it.

Yeah from what i've gathered, 3rd party insurers aint a smart move!

think the extended motorplan is for 2 years at around R25k...
Correct, just got the quote - R24k to 100 000km or R47000 to 120 000km :dropjaw:
Might as well just keep that money in a 32day call account to collect interest in the event that something breaks down?!?!

+1 I see you're already in the correct thought pattern for a BMW driver/DIYer

Well i learnt from a smart bunch of guys! :thumb:

Ok... 2006 320d with 79000kms on the clock @ ±R170 000

Of course i'll get the history on the vehicle via VIN - on inspection though, what should i be looking out for/checking?
It wouldn't be possible for a BMW stealership to do a check would it?

You can have it checked at the dealership for something stupid like R2500, but it is not really worth much. It is better to just get a service history printout from them.

That sounds like a decent deal, if you can bargain a bit, it is a win

i dont think it will be worth having bmw check it... but it would be worth having the codes read...

im not sure how available e90 parts are away from the dealers? it might not be a good idea... but i could also be wrong...

Worth a try! (Even if i get R5k shaved off that!)
Correct - it's R2000.00 to have it checked.

And the codes can/should only be read by a dealership? :thinker:

My 07 320d needed a damper change those at around those km's... Cost was R5k @ Dealership. Luckily MP payed for it. Are you buying the car from a BMW dealer? Guess would be not, seeing as the MP expired?

Get they guy who your buying it from take it to a BMW dealer and let him pick up the bill. (Ask for proof thou!)

A dealer yes, but not a BMW dealer though!
I've requested the BMW check at their expense and also put it a lower offer seeing that it's out of motor plan.

Wish me luck! :)
