Moto Euro E46 318i N42 engine Power steering pump opinions?

Hi Guys

I drive a 2002 E46 318i Auto , car has done about 190 000 kms and it seems the power steering pump is leaking , I must admit its been "leaking" for the past one and a half years . Terrible I am yes.

Its leaking fluid , no noises , no hardness in the steering , no issues while driving . Just an annoying red leak.

I have had it checked out at many power steering specialists as well as at two bmw dealers ( one of whom services my car) all say that its the pump thats leaking, not the pipes or bottle just the pump. I have been topping it off every week with fluid , but I think its time i replace the leaky pump.

Been to goldwagen today and they sell a Motoeuro part , at a cost of about R1250 for my car ,He tells me its a german made part. has anybody had any experience with this part?

I know he did call it motoeuro but I have seen other parts branded with moto euro stickers only to find the sticker on a few respected branded parts boxes .

I tried looking for a Luk Branded part but couldnt find anyone keeping it here in Durban,
I called ZF in Johannesburg and they quoted me over R5000 for the pump.

Has anyone had any experience with this Goldwagen motoeuro part for the E46 318i N42? Its the "flat back type"

Thanks guys

Hi LPM320

Thanks for your quick reply, Was the box of another brand? I didn't get a chance to see what they were actually selling as they didn't have the part in stock.

Where there any markings on the pump to say who the actual manufacturer was?

Anyone else have any opinion or advice for me on this brand of part for the N42? Would be really appreciated, reason I ask is , the Pump that would fit on my vehicle is a little different from that fitted on 6 cylinder E46 cars . So I was wondering if anyone has used and had experience with this part on their 318i N42 from Motoeuro....

It was in a Motoeuro box, and the pump itself had no markings/brandings.

Just an Update, I fitted the Motoeuro made in germany part, It looked exactly the same as the ZF part that came off my car. Even the grooves , bolts etc everything looked the same . All that was missing was the ZF sticker.

Been driving it along since then, No problems , no leaks , steering feels a little better, not loose , not to heavy.
Happy thus far with the product.

Wow has it been 3 years already..gosh how time fly's.

So the cars mileage is now of exactly 236000kms as of yesterday , so i did 46000kms with the new pump.

Thus far no issues with the pump , it works exactly as it should , perfect amount of power , no noises or leaks . Works just as the original one did . Would never say that it was replaced .

Honestly I had forgotten that I replaced it hehe .
