Glad you got most of the issues sorted out.

One things for sure, the car is in good hands.

Another M54B30 running well after Gizmos garage :chef:

Thank you for bringing this car back to a prideful state, Mo, and Gizmo, it's great to see when these kind of gems are revived. A real great looking E39 you've got there.

when we fit the Bilstein B4 and H&R springs.

So history repeats itself....:fencelook:
You will now also fit a lowering kit to a 5 series, to raise the actual ride height:roflol:

Yeah - the irony: Fitting lowering/sports springs that raise the height :biglol:

How much of the spring was cut off and what was the effective drop?

We will know in the new year. Will take before and after measurements.

+1

As an example, here is a 530i with M sport suspension (which the individuals have):

Compare the front to mine - follow the edge of the wheel to the edge of the fenders in the 2 pics:

A combination of what is most probably the original springs (which are 14 years old), them being cut and worn shocks means this car is sitting much lower than it should even if the springs were cut a specific amount only. The new sports springs would end up being somewhere between these 2.

I think that is going to work out really nicely! Can't wait to see it.

Some fresh rubber at TheWheelShop this afternoon. Rear tyres in the correct size and sitting "square" on the rims as I'm not a fan of the stretched look.

Eventually had to go with Toyos, as they were the only one that had sizes in stock, which was a bit of a twist for me as I did not go to Mintys in the first place because of their constant stock issues.

A really big thank you to Shaheen for phoning around the last 2 days to source a set. I did not budge on the sizes I wanted, which made it difficult for him to source tyres. First Falken, then Contis, then a few others and eventually ended up with Toyos.

Luckily all 4 wheels were straight, so decided to put off the wheel refurb for now. 2 wheels have some really minor curb rash/scratches. Will attend to that at a later stage as it's cosmetic - I was more concerned about potential buckled rims, but they are fine.

Tyres fitted: Toyo T1 Sport
Sizes: 235/45/17 in front and 255/40/17 at the rear

Tomorrow she goes for roadworthy so that I can finally get the transfer done into my name in the next few days, if there are no hiccups.

I can't wait for this weekend to get her out on the highway. All the running around has been mainly in urban traffic or congested highways, so I don't have a proper feel for her yet. Was also taking it very easy with the old tyres.

Thanks Gizmo for the short valves - ended up using them as you can see. Small little mod, but very effective in "hiding" the valves :ty:

Its a pleasure. Now you can see why I fit them to all my wheels.

So the detailing officially begins today. Washed the car and parked it off in the garage. The plan is to spend a few hours each day over the next 3 weeks to do this. Car will be on a battery conditioner, so will not move until done. Will upload pics over the next few days as I go along, but it will be a slow process

Firstly I decided to take some parts off the car, as it makes it easier to detail. Also gives me a chance to clean in/around the areas properly:

Grills and front number plate holder off. Spot the test fitting on the new badge:

Next was side markers. Took this off specifically because of the resider around it. Wanted to clean all that stuff off. There was some swirl marks around these.

Rear number plate also off. Paintwork has buffer trails after taking off the badges. Damaged rear bumper is something I have to live with for a few more months when it goes in for a respray.
