TLDR: Spent 7 hours on a hot date with my car and DA polisher, and now my paint looks incredible.

Noticed my own thread hasn't received any love in a while.

Since September, the usual maintenance on the tractor - oil service, filters, etc. Absolutely nothing else in terms of performance mods (sadly)** not quite true - update in next post.

As per my last post, I am a little obsessed with my paint. Being a white car, you can get away with a lot (in comparison to a black car, for example).
I did do a hand detail a while back (clay bar, polish, wax), and this worked really well. Unfortunately, it's not possible to get swirls out by hand.

This got the ball rolling and I thought to myself - "Hey, what better way to spend your Tuesday night than detailing the car?".
I knew I could pay a professional and would get an excellent result, but being stupidly enthusiastic, I figured this was something I wanted to learn.

Off to CrazyDetailer we went and left with a DA polisher, some cutting and finishing pads, Turtle was 1&done graphene solution, tape, an empty bank account, and a hella lot of excitement.

Tuesday night was spent patiently washing, taping off, and doing hash-pattern passes on the car with cutting, and then finishing pads.

I will definitely not claim that this replicates what a professional detailer can do, but I'm pretty chuffed with the outcome. The roof, bonnet, and boot sections in particular are night and day. Pictures don't do the differences justice - the 4950834 videos I took along the way are a much better way to gauge before and after.

Very satisfied with the outcome :)

I realised I missed one thing that was also done - EGR cooler delete.

Good friend of mine (Mr HMS) brought in a few kits for the N57s and we got to do the delete. EGR cooler really is a chunky piece of equipment - weighs 4.4kg if you were wondering.

The delete kit really was neat and easy to install (I basically held a torch while Dylan burnt himself on hot coolant - so very easy!). Kits were from bimmertune.

With removal, we went ahead and installed a boost gauge (tapped into the top blank off plate) into the side vent pod (also printed by HMS). Fitment is OEM+, and 3bar Depo gauge is more than enough for when I finally get the yacht running fast.

Pics attached.

Have been wanting to do the front lip for the longest time. MP lip was the answer, but wanted it a touch different so it is slightly less common. Have seen a few examples with the bottom section painted body colour and absolutely loved that.
Got a non-OEM lip and had it sprayed at a bodyshop. Quite like the 3 middle bars that it has.

Front is a little more aggressive now, and somewhat more complete.

Other than this - smooth paint, and smooth sailing. I don't do much mileage with WFH so make a point to go for a decent drive now and again.

Brilliant cars these 30ds are!

Looks cool...I like different. You must do the side skirt extensions - they really carry that line from the front lip through to the back.

Update time!

TL;DR - I bought an ST to replace the F30, then decided to keep the F30. Few car updates and mods (CERAMIC COATING!!!!) & then we took pictures :)

**************
So after being active on the forum, but quiet on my own thread for a while - things are now settled.

I have always wanted a Fiesta ST, and managed to find an incredibly clean example of one, that I couldn't pass by.

It is the most fun car to drive. It is such a well-balanced package, and puts a smile on your face every time (its power - or lack there of - can actually be used on our roads). I threw on an intake and dv and fun has been had. The intake noises, short, close shifts, incredible handling, and nippy performance make it a phenomenal car. 10/10 fun.

Only thing I don't like is the seating position - it is super high. You feel like you are in a Transit van.

The plan was to sell the 30d and keep the FiST. This didn't materialise because the F30 is in such good condition and it's a fantastic car. So I kept both for a few months - fun 2 car garage - ST on the daily, 30d on the weekend. This ended up being ST everyday and F30 sleeping frequently.

During this time, I also made sure I was keeping the F30 by spending some money on maintenance parts
(1) 2 New tyres - sidewalls were deforming slightly, so new Eagle F1 AS2s fitted (not a fan, but OEM, so we keep for now)
(2) Upgraded VARI slotted front discs - that look the part for sure
(3) Upper fog light fangs - this is a mod I wanted to do for YEARS - just was not available locally until recently
(4) LED Foglight bulbs - want to get OEM LCi units, but this will do for now
(5) Annual service - oils, filters, the goods
.....
(6) THE MOST exciting - Nasiol Ceramic Coating

Over the years, I have become quite a paint snob. While I am by no means a professional, but I think I work a machine polisher and different products pretty well. Did a restoration on a Santorini Black Defender 90 a few months back that was going to go for a respray - and she came out incredibly well. Was a good 4-day job (also being a perfectionist), and horrendous paint to begin with.

It's a ton of work, but the outcome is so rewarding. It is a serious art, but having done a few cars now, I'm pretty confident in the process, and understand the different products, pads, etc - and what a difference the correct order of operation makes to the final outcome.

This said, I got to do a clay bar, decontamination, and 1 step cut on mine (as the paint was already in brilliant condition), and ceramic coated it. It looks fantastic - I'll keep tabs on its longevity. The prep work took a day, and the ceramic application a few hours. That's what you pay for with Ceramic coatings - the prep time. The products themselves are by no means cheap, but it's the last step in a long process.

With the ST departing shortly, I took some pics this past weekend of the cars together. Had a few friends join in, and got some cool pics.

Next up....custom exhaust. Stay tuned.

Enjoy the pics, and happy Christmas to those celebrating!

Latest updates!

Biggest one being that she is back up for sale.

Seperate sale thread created. If you know of anyone in the market, you know where to find me.

I have also (since last posting) changed the exhaust (only 3rd exhaust since having the car) - 1 a year seems reasonable?

I did a custom setup that took a lot of research to see if it would fit. OEM BMW back box, valved, which is amazing. Loud when you are on it, and as quiet as stock when cruising.

Work has required me to travel into the office more - and highway trips return anywhere from 4.8l/100km (no traffic) to high 6s in bad traffic. Can live with that.

New tyres were also fitted (that was a fun buy), and rear brakes were done.

Some pics added (possibly the last updates on this thread 😢)
