Mods I was thinking we don't really have a coding and diagnostics software section

it could fit under Technical/Modification -> Coding and Diagnostic software

I would be willing to write some guides for oem retrofitting ... let me know what you think ...

That sounds like a good idea. Would be good to know what kind of diagnostic tools are out there for Bmw but also for VAG etc...

Hopefully Nic and Cois agree with our suggestion...

Guys,

I agree with this, lots of members that need help ect.

Just one thing, even though you can order the stuff from China for like R2.50, be very careful when discussing INPA, DIS, EDIABAS, SSS ect.

These are all registered software belonging to BMW, which you are not supposed to have, and I read on the net that BMW USA has acted on this overseas, hence my reluctance to ever discuss anything of this nature in public.

Just a warning, use it, dont use it.

That is a good and very valid point you are making.

However I think as long as we only post guides on how to use the tools and do not post any links for the software downloads or post any software on the forums we will be fine.

I think that will really ad a lot to the forum. And as LZ stated, just try avoid stepping into a legal thing.

There are lots of paid for and cheap software options available as well, which I'm sure most of us are after. And if you manage to find legit stuff hidden under a rock somewhere then it's your gain
I have Uprev software bought from the states for the 350z and it is easy as pie to use and read diagnostics. but not really relevant here.
