I took the BM in this morning to replace the outside temp sensor & walked over to the Noise Boys. The guy said they can do the decat + full stainless steel exhaust & one Cowley silencer for R4k. He also said it's difficult to do an induction on the BM since there's some sort of sensor on/in the airbox? Can someone please verify this for me? He also suggested I should just get a flat panel K&N or BMC filter for the stock airbox.

If this sensor thing in the airbox is a foefie I'm not sure I want to trust them doing my exhaust.

Viper Performance Exhausts will do a SS + headers + decat for R5200 inc

Also: R4850 for a remap.

I had a Viper exhaust on my Polo and was very happy with it. They do good work.

hi,yes speak to pieter at noise boys, they are ur best bet here in bfn, trust me on this.R4k not bad.stay away from aftermarket airfilters dude, they stuff your maf sensors up hectic bru and not only that, they let in more dirt than the original filters do.there is a airbox mod that you can do.

I think I did speak to Pieter, does he drive a blue Mini Cooper? (might have been a client's aswell)

So would you leave the intake as is? Not even a flat panel BMC or K&N filter?

Can someone please explain to me what would be the most optimum exhaust setup for my ride? What pipe width, the amount of boxes (don't know much about how back pressure affect performance) etc.

I've heard headers can give quite substantial increases in power? The guy @ Noise Boys said he does the the exhaust from after the headers & leaves all the sensors intact, does this sound right? I'm not 100% sure, but iirc i read something about the Ebay headers & you'd need software to get rid of a warning light, is this the sensors the oke is talking about?

Would Viper be able to make me the headers & courier them & I have them fitted here?

Tell him he is smoking his own socks...There is no other sensor besides the MAF in the airbox, he gave you that story because he knows nothing about BMWs and doesn't want the business, he's an exhaust guy...

Do these guys actually swap out the exhaust headers for new ones or do they just hack the cats off the standard headers?

Trust me, TNT Exhausts are the best in the business, its worth the trip to Germiston.

fyi I dropped in a K&N flat panel filter because I had one lying around, I didn't notice any difference. Now I just give it a clean every service, not wasting money on paper filters any more. I will be making my own CAI soon, I will post pics of the process.

Thanks Gizmo, appreciate it.

If I take the airbox out, when I get a CAI, what happens to the MAF sensor?

How long would it take them to do the headers & exhaust? Would they be able to do it over a weekend?

Unichipping will give you very little gain on NA, only really good on turbos. Rather save up and go for the RGM SC @ R80,000 - 300+kW will be insane. I'm considering it when I come off motor plan. In the mean time you can decat, but make sure the new pipes are at least 65mm in case you go SC one day. Dont bother with a hot air cone, just put in a K&N flatpad.

Thanks for the reply, but like I said, it's not worth it for me to save now & spend 80k on a SC that will most likely be worth more than the car. Besides the 80k, you will have to do alot more work on the car to keep that 300kw+ on the tar.

I phoned TNT this morning, it's +-R5k for the headers & full stainless steel exhaust. I've seen on E46 fanatics that you get a "check engine light" when they installed their Ebay headers, will I get the same thing if I get it done by TNT?

Anyone got a clue how loud the TNT system will be?

Why do they (E46 fanatics) recommend ceramic coating the headers?

I've decided that I'm going to do the TNT system March next year, just need to recover a bit after buying the car. I'll get me the Dinan intake when I have some spare cash after that (provided I still want to get an intake), I like the "stock" look of the dinan intake more & I don't need to remove the stock airbox or MAF sensor.

if you get check engine light then all you do is install cat foolers wich cost 450 per lamda probe

pieter is the guy driving the mini.for bfn, noise boys is da best but i u can hold off till next year id reccoment tnt exhausts aswell

the ceramic coating just ensures that the hot gasses stays in the headers and doestn escape ie you get better performance

Ah thanks SS.

Does Pieter stay in Langenhoven Park? I've seen a guy that look just like him & also drive a Mini, he lives just around the corner from me.

I think I'll rather drive up to Germiston & leave my car up there for a week & get the headers done aswell. Any idea what the ceramic coating will cost? Can TNT do this? Can they also install the lambda probes?

exhaust wrap looks so cheap and if it gets wet it can cause rust, but then again the headers are normally stainless steel...

Guys where will I be able to buy the Simota, K&N induction kit with heatshield or the BMC CDA one? What will they cost?

SS, I've done some reading. The reason the MAF fails is because of over oiling the filter.

dude, take it from me,even if a little oil gets onto that maf ur stuffed.they have to be as clean as possible, but then again its your car your money.those filters let more air in but also more unwanted crap.i actually did the test myself when i had my st.i sprayed a little oil filter oil in the intake past the air filter, drove it for a month.took the pipe of,wiped my finger through the intake and low and behold,it was dirty as hell, dust galore.

there is one filter that does its job properly, apexi power intake, get the universal one.doesnt use oil.they actually did a test on the net and this one came out tops

Hey m8

I was doing a lot of reading & research the last few days & with my current MAF problem (well they thought the MAF was the issue) I don't think this would be a wise choice. A lot of people say the stock airbox on the 330 is very good.

I'm going to do the headers & exhaust, probably March next year, & if I think I should take it further, then I'll go to Xcede for software.
