Missed Service -Cancellation of Service Plan Dilemna

Hi all

I drive a 2012, 520d. At approximately 75000 km I took my car in for a service. At the time the car was a few 100km away from requiring an oil service . However the dealership did not want to do the oil service since the service light had not been activated as per CBM. Anyway since my wife has been driving the car we didnt realize that the oil service was overdue. Its currently overdue by -2300km (car mileage just over 80 000km).

I contacted the dealership to make the booking and they have indicated that since the mileage is over the allowed limit they have to suspend the motorplan. I also checked the car myself and noticed that the service light didn't come on as it normally does when the car is started up. Only the vehicle settings on the i-drive is indicating red for oil service. Not sure if this is a problem but not willing to take the risk of a suspended motorplan.

Can anyone provide advice on how to deal with this matter? Is there anything I can do to have the light reset before I take it in for a service ?

Your advice will appreciated.

Your only hope is speaking to bmwsa and hopefully someone is in a good mood.

I have heard were people went over but had to pay for the missed service cash in order for you to keep plan

And no you cant reset and take to the dealer

they will reinstate - they have to open the valve cover for inspection as required by Motorplan - so they will charge for new gasket and stuff, but they usually reinstate with costs.

:coolShake: the reason I know is because I had the same problem, due to the fact Im out the country so often for long periods. I had it done at AutoAlpina Boksburg.

That's weird. I have taken my car in for a brake service and the recommended oil service was 3000km to go and they still did the oil service.

If an oil service falls with 3000km of the kilos before its appointed time for service, bmw will carry it out.

I see, point still stands. Makes no sense that the dealership refused to carry out the oil service when the car went in at 75000.

Sad but true. To the OP, good luck and I hope you can find a dealership that isn't completely stupid and will help you out.

A good dealership wouldn't have hassled you about an early service or bringing it in late. Change your dealer....

Yes they can do upto 3000kms before so they f'ed you over. They normally give you that bull about service indicator on at some crappy stealerships like club motors randburg. They were almost the cause my motorplan being suspended as it was time duw had a whole argument and had to give the service advisor some education that it is either mileage or time.

Has to be within 3000kms chief I had the same argument as mine was in for brake fluid service and had about 4000 to go for oil service. The dealerships panics when I come there so this time they done rear brakes which was only due in 9000kms as I am regularly there giving them beans.

They can definitely motivate for you to have service done before indicator light is on. I had my car in for brakes and they did oil service even though it was 1500km to go so I didn't have to go back in. Please name and shame dealer. Perhaps John can assist with more advice?
