Mini Cooper S shudder

Recently bought a 07 Cooper S from the auction (risky I know) everything seems to be okay except a shudder on take off.

I'm assuming it could be the pressure plate.

Any idea what a clutch and pressure plate would cost? Some guy told me I'm looking at 12k for just the pressure plate.

That is madness... 37k :thumbdo: Same setup as the BMs - mine was replaced a few times - the odd 18-21k at a pop (luckily MP) :flyfun:

There was a thread on carforums about a Mini Clutch

Stealers quoted 37k to repair :yuck:

It has a dual mass flywheel that has to be changed with the clutch.

Parts from GW will cost 5.5k

Here's the thread

http://www.carforums.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61399

:yuck: 37k

guess gold wagen it is:ty:

Also whats the resale market on these cars like.

this particular has 184k on the clock, what would be a reasonable selling price with that mileage.

Fluffy, don't worry, mine took allot of abuse, the R53 clutch is strong.

well, on our new mini 2006 model with 60 000km's only on the clock, Jacques at fastserv auto here in PTA says it needs a whole new clutch?!?!?!?!?!? :thumbdo: cos the pedal is really hard to push, and it's creaking.

what is the best option for a clutch kit for the r53 mini cooper S ? and do you have to replace the dual mass flywheel too?

oh, and does MINI themselves use a Valeo or LUK kit?

Mini won't us Valeo or LUK.

The clutch is hard to press down, it is an S after all.

If it gets worst I would say start to worry, otherwise, unless the car has been rapped, which it doesn't seem to be, I would say leave it as it is.

Jacques said it's a LUK clutch bmw uses on the mini apparently, i know Peugeot uses Valeo...

I drove 11 mini cooper S models while looking for this one. 3 had soft NORMAL clutches, this one is DAMN hard... like My honda Vtec's ACT EXTREME with 450%extra force rated to like 500hp, hard...

i think i asked you about the one in the crashed mini... did u ever replace it?

The clutch on my S is pretty soft aswell.

Can the bottom engine mounting give the car a shudder on take off?

It can be that, the clutch or any other engine mount so check them out, But then Jacques usually knows what he is talking about.

Howsit guys

Can a dying clutch cause you to loose power?
My clutch varies from soft to hard lol depending on how i drive and for how long

Usually my mini boosts crazy from about 4rpm to 7rpm but for the last week, i dont feel it anymore, its like the power just vanished? Any ideas what it could be?
Just did timing chain and High Pressure fuel pump.. so doubt its that.

Thanks!
