Thats just it though. Thats like me saying I dont like you because you wear the same tshirt as me. So I will come with on the run, but if you dare pitch up, Im never coming with again.

Sure, if its your house you have every right to deny entry to whoever, but in public domain, both magazines have the same opportunities. I buy sns, I have until now only heard of max my ride from car forums when they signed up and started trying to flog their mag and got severely cut down.

I will INSIST that MAX cover the event, and S&S can do the next one!! I mean Herrbmw is the event organizer, and he took the initiative to contact MAX magazine, so his foot is the foot to be put down!

We have done HOW MANY other events, and now because Herrbmw asked MAX to be there, NOW all of a sudden S&S want to be there???

I may have overreacted, there was no mention the max my ride may not cover etc. But they need to realise that invited or not, what give them the right to set terms?

The way I interpreted the post was that they are doing fanatics a favour coming to an event. Magazine content is their business, do you think they would even think twice about attending if there wasnt value in it for them?

Where is their representation on the forum? Sns have a few staffers and an owner on the forum, who contribute regularly. I just feel that to suddenly tell someone sorry you cant come with this time around is just somewhat not on. This is all missing the point though, because noone even said sns wanted to attend. Its about the upfront approach from max my ride. That is not how businesses operate in a free and fair environment.

Argue if you wish, this is just my personal opinion

That way, they can exclusively cover all events, and we can get better exposure for the forum. :thumb: If I owned a magazine, and I got called to cover an event, then I will also ask for exclusive rights, because the market is tough, and if i have an article that my competitor doesn't, then that month I might sell more magazines.

I am telling you now, the last thing I want is to show up to the event, and have 2 rival magazines there fighting, cause if thats going to be the case, then i will take my name off the list...

ok guys got a reply from freerider,but still waiting from twinz.

lets just all keep calm,i want the run to go on EVEN if no magazine cover it.

i have sent a e-mail to mmr asking to just hold a bit

let me just explain to the rest of the forum members what actually happened.
i sent a pm asking uber if s&s could cover the event,no reply,so this week after seeing the ct fanatics in s&s,decided to contact mmr,they are willing to come aboard,but wont if s$s are covering it as in the past they have had the same cars in the same month. xr8 from the cape.

so tonight i got hold of ubers cell no and phoned him,he says he will speak to the editor to send some one.


so at this stage i dont know who is covering the event.

BUt it is still going ahead and at the end of the day its the fanatics that count and the friendships that get built on the runs.

i would like to appologise if i got everybodys hopes up:sorry:.you can all beat me up at the run,so please guys dont pull out,lets do it for the fun of it and the love of the brand BMW

Just let Max my Ride cover the event guys , stop being so picky , its not like any magazines cover any of the other events , so now we have one sponsor and you guys are being greedy for two . Max my Ride and Speed and Sound have their own conflict I'm sure , so let that be .

Personally i would have kept these runs a secret to everyone except the fanatics, but hey, i guess it is too late now.
I don’t like advertising anything I am doing unless it has a financial benefit to it.
Don’t be surprised if we run into the popo again. And yes - they do have a foot to stand on, since we are driving in convoy without escorts. The next thing we have to ask permission from the governor to do this and that......etc etc .
Point is – you don’t want too much exposure if you intend on doing something which is a sensitive matter on a regular basis
PS – read that again. I didn’t say it is wrong, but it is still a sensitive issue
