Which is better ? in what way ?
My impression is both these mags will feature cars that are liked by the younger people . Look at the mods and rat look -these are not likely to be done by older car enthusiasts .
A city golf with a 2.0 litre engine and/or a wicked sound install will feature as a benchmark for guys on the street , hopefeully they buy the products/services from the advertisers in the magazines .

I have never seen a e34 540i manual in readers' rides , it is a classic and if in good condition should make an interesting article .

I buy a few mags every month , Car , Topcar , SnS , others if something catches my eye . I am being honest by saying I do sometimes browse the mag for 10 minutes and put it in the book rack , others may get a week of reading . I may be buying the mags out of habit...
I have over 1000 motoring mags .....

ADI , there were SA cars featured in Topcar magazine ...nice

Both mags deliver the same content over and over again. I mean if you own a Golf gti 5 or 6 and you just put in a nice induction system, software and exhaust system, then you are guaranteed a feature. Or you do the common and famous golf mk1 ABF conversion then you are featured. In every issue there will always be a Golf 1,5 or 6 featured.
So to me they are all the same.

"If you don't own the top of the range then you don't qualify"

I've never seen a 318 BMW featured or 1.6 tazz with mods in both mags. I just buy them for the advertising in case i see something interesting that i want to buy or do for my car.

This is so so true.

No disrespect to either of the mags, they do great work in showing some of the countries nicely modded cars, and krutch one of the editors of sns is a forum member as well so maybe he must give a comment on this, but we very seldom see taste full beemers that hasn't been over modded or was almost completely redone under the hood.

Yes I understand it is mod mags and so on, and as a young guy that old school mk1, or rat look as they call it, really doesn't look good at all. And yes they say each to his own, but get more of the classics guys, yes the older cars are alot rarer to find and fix up, but isn't someone who has taken the time, money and effort of doing something like this eligible for a feature? Even if they aren't modded and dead stock they can look pretty good non the less.

Just my 2c about this

I think in my personal opinion they should ease up on the Toyota's and VW's (incl. SEAT) and give other models a chance. How about Renaults, bmw's (non-M-sport), Mercs (have never seen one except in one issue i think, a CLK).

They should focus on older models/classics because not all of us want to put a huge bodykit or nos and turbo in our cars and BIG rims and so forth, we like to keep them clean and simple and i think that deserves a feature. It takes more time and care to keep a 20-30 year old classic looking OEM than pimping a 96 honda vtec that will see the scrapyard in just 5-10 years. NO OFFENCE if you own a HONDA

For starters, there are cars like the E28, E24 , E12 and older ones that deserve to be featured.

They can start looking in this forum, there are alot of classic gemstones hiding in here. JUST LOOK!!!!

its all down to personaly choice, buy it if you like it

i know we have had sns feature two of the fanatics events, cape town and our ice cream run.

also max my ride featured one of the fanatics 135i,as well as burgys project shift dyno day

personally i buy it as it features cars from sa,nothing wrong from the overseas mag,but like to see the local stuff, and i wont be seeing my car in it as a feature as it doesnt classify in any of there catogieries

if you love bmw's, bmw performance mag is the shit

if you can find it, after being in the UK, when I got back I always tried, no luck

Performance VW is actually pretty freaking awesome too (I have a soft spot for awesome Mk2 gti's) :fencelook:

nice, http://itunes.apple.com/za/app/performance-bmw/id475752315?mt=8

I always see it in the bigger CNA's. But it might also be special order, or u could just subscribe to it. Great mag

The Bmw performance mag is very good. Pricy for the import. But worth reading for its pix, articles & reviews.

In the Speed and sound mag do you really think what is being featured is true?

I think not. I was with someone when they did their photo-shoot and they changed the sound to their own stuff. Probably due to promote there sponsor. I think that’s bull.

The OP asked what mag you guys preferred, but instead it's been mostly more of the same from the old thread.
