Good Day
I have a problem with my 2005 E46 320D. It idles rough between 1500Rpm to 2500Rpm.I can see and smell that it is also over fueling. According to the site attached below, it may be the MAF sensor, witch i am quite sure that it is.
I have a quote for R2394 inc. for a new MAF. but it still sounds a lot. Does anyone know were i could buy a preferably Bosch MAF?
My other problem is that i can not get anyone that has a good working MAF that i can use for a test, before i fork out that money for a new one.
Is there perhaps anyone that can help a fellow out?

Regards

If you disconnect the maf and you have the exact same symptoms its not the maf:coolShake:

Niks for President,
Niks would something like torque pick up a faulty sensor,
Cause then the dude can download the application get a blue tooth dongle and test for faults, obviously inpa would be better, but thinking short term,

try disconnecting the MAF first to test as suggested earlier... and if there is a confirmed issue, you can buy MAF cleaner or use electronics cleaner to clean it before buying a whole new one. i have done this previously and worked 100's.

also, what state is your air filter in? do you change it often?

I have replaced the air as well as diesel filter about 6000Km ago. Cleaned the MAF with CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner. Had diagnostics checked by 2 different gays. No fault.
According to the article, the MAF goes out of spec & that is were the problem starts.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Have you tried removing your chip. Those can also create havoc.

It's not about reading the errors, it's about reading the data. The unit might do the "role call" with the ecu, but it's data that it sends is not accurate. That is why Niks suggested that you unplug the maf. The ecu then runs on pre-set data and the car will be smoother (if it's your maf that's faulty)

I can help you out with a maf, what area are you in?

Sons e36 318is idled very rough. Issue was that the intake pipe that goes from the air filter to the intake had fine cracks in it. Car is again back to normal idling after he wrapped it (temporary repair) - he's still looking for a replacement part.

I have unplugged the chip about 500km ago when this problem started.
I can report that i have unplugged the MAF and it runs better.
Does this men that the MAF is undoubtedly the culprit?
Any suggestions what brand & were i can buy a new MAF?
