M6 v10 or 92 M3 v8 or e92 335i fbo?

Hi guys i have been thinking about buying a weekend/fun car in the next few months. my budget will be +-300k, the 3 cars i have narrowed it down to is the 2006-2007 m6 v10 coupe, 07-08 m3 v8 coupe or 08-10 335i fbo. will drive the car maybe once or twice a week.

Surprisingly i have owned all 3 cars in the past and still cant make up my mind although im leaning towards one of the ///M's, last of the NA ///M's especially that V10 i absolutely love, i had an m6 cabrio ( had smg problem at the time and got fixed under warranty). had a m3 v8 dct ( it had no issues), had a 335i n54 auto ( no problems to report).

All cars will have no warranty when bought and mileage should range between 60 000- 90000km. i was thinking of getting third party warranty or just putting money away and when problems arise just pay for it. I can live with +-20k maintenace cost per year but as you know any one of those three cars could cost more.

Any help or guidance will be highly appreciated!:ty:

Those 3 cars are so different its very hard to choose.

By "fun car" what do you mean? weekend spirited driving? Racing? Tracking? Street racing? Long distance driving...a cruiser?

sorry for not being specific, i meant weekend spirited driving and maybe once in a blue moon maybe some drag racing ( very rare) if the opportunity arises. no tracking whatsoever.I know they so different hence the problem of choosing one because they all have their pro's and cons

i know its amazing, i absolutley love it, the power, sound but m6 v10 scares the hell out of me smg, vanos, bearing knock.

but i must admit for 300k bargain of the century

There's plenty out there with decent mileage which have had new engines, gearboxes and vanos replaced before motor plan lapsed :coolShake:

Ideally opt for one which which ticks those boxes, it's so much car for the money and the V10 howl :blowheart:

Don't get me wrong an FBO 335i is a force to be reckoned with but it doesn't come close to a V10 especially one with a full exhaust and software :tiptoe:

There's a certain V10 being converted to 6MT...
intrigued, please do tell

ya i think its def gonna be a ///M, so its narrowed down to m3 v8 manual or m6 v10 smg. When i buy this car im planning on keeping it, anything can happen in the future but my thinking now is that to me they are the last of an era type cars, something i wouldnt mind sitting my garage 5 years from now. The m3 is definitley the perfect all rounder, better looks, im sure better maintenance but the m6 is more rare, v10 power sound, tough!

Another thing i see the m5 depreciated a little faster you can get one for 250, do you think i should wait till jan feb, will the m6 and m3 folllow in the depreciation game. How much lower in value do you think these cars can get?

Yes, the electronics is the difficult part:rollsmile:

But we've already got a plan in place just for that and we're confident we'll get it to work ;)

Hi mate

Your budget is a little on the low side IMHO. If you're looking for a pristine example, I'd say budget about R380 to R450k for a nice 07 model. The way I see it, the M6's have just about bottomed out at R400k. They've been hovering around there for a while and dealers are more than happy to keep the price there and wait for the right buyer, because they trade in badly and their GP is huge on them. That also gives you negotiating power on the flipside too.

Even the M3's for the mileage range you're looking for will be quite hard to find.

Have you seen this? I'd take this and run!!!! bargain of the century!!!

I'd take the M3 largely because it's probably the most reliable out of the lot :fencelook:

Honestly I just love the look of the E92 M3, but the M6 would be a close second.

A bargain yes, but apparently the car's a dog. That same link was posted on another thread (can't seem to find it now). Someone on this forum went to look at it and he said the clear coat was peeling all over and so forth. Someone also said, which I think is true, 'the most expensive ///M car you can buy is a cheap one'. Keep looking mate, but don't just look at the cheapest ones.
