never had the conrod bearings replaced.kms on the car is 122593.i hav read on the e39 m5 forum overseas that a few guys hav had them replaced.i also heard sum guy was drifting his m5 and stuffed the conrod bearing.is this a common fault on this model?

It is indeed a common fault, and while it is labour intensive to change the bearings, its not that expensive.

The process would be to simply remove the sump, remove the cap bolts, and change out the bearings...

This however is far easier said then done, because you need to remove the cross member with all of the arms attached to it.

Hence, labour intensive, but not bad at all.

You would need to do the job, oil of course, build up oil, sump gaskets (big and inspection) and the bearings which is R250 for a set original OEM, you need 8....

Interestingly, the conrod issue is due to oil starvation from G-Forces, I have also heard a lot about it.

With a remap and decat you aught to get around 22kW and 42Nm extra on the wheels. The throttle is much more responsive. All over the car feels amazing (a whole different car). Then you try the sport button, just mind numbing.

Forgot to say it is a Xcede remap and powerflo decat.

Sounds about right for only cat's, I went for straight pipes instead of resonaters, as the Y resonator does most of the work when it comes to dampening the sound, there is not much of a difference, mine just has a bit of a growl now, but very subtle.
