m40b18 E30 Engine internals Refresh

HI guys

Been a while since I've been active on the forum....

So no real updates to report back on regarding the Baur

I'm looking at getting the engine internals refreshed as the motor currently has 247xxxkm on

What should I be expecting to have replaced iro parts etc and what would be the average going cost to have this completed

Any advice is always appreciated

My suggestion is to do a compression test. If everything is as at it should be then leave it alone.

If not then the following

-Bearings
-Piston rings (possibly 1st oversize if the bore is worn)
-Conrod bolts
-Headbolts
-Gasket kit( all of the engine gaskets as they will not be reusable)
-Valve stem seals
-Might want to consider clutch and flywheel at the same time
-water pump and thermostat if never replaced
-Cambelt + tensioner
-New fluids (Oil, powersteering, coolant)
-New plugs
-New filters

Not sure on pricing as I havent done the costing for a 4 cylinder

Get quotes from alert engine spares
 
Thanks @"Nikhil" will look at the compression test and others as per your suggestion

It just feels as if the engine needs a Berocca lol.

if the compression is in range then check that youre getting good spark etc. you may have tired leads etc..check injectors and also maybe worth cleaning the head.

Agreed.

Fuel pump, fuel filter and vacuum leaks are also possible suspects aswell as the airflow meter.
