What yearmodel is it??
Think of it this way... If say the motor blows up, then R38k isn't really that expensive, plus your services will be free, brakes free, any other mechanical failure, shocks, alternator, waterpump... all free...

So the choice is yours...

R38k is ALLOT of money, but like I said, imagine something serious does go wrong on the car in the next year, or over the km's he will be extending it. :dunno:

Ok, so the extention should be for another year, plus say 15k km's, is that correct??

It all depends on the car. If you've had it for a while and know the history, then maybe it's not a good idea to extend. If however, you got it recently, and don't know of any possible issues then it may make sense.

As a starting poing, I would suggest making an appointment with Leonard (Dent Doc). A while ago, he offered a service where he will check a car from bumper to bumper. You can then take it from there and decide if you need to extend. At worst if you do find faults now, you can take it in to BMW for one final MP claim before it expires.

Just take it for an AA test, don't worry who started what service, AA will give you an extensive detailed report, they take up to 5 hours per car...

That's how I would see this or base my decision - R38k is a lot of money, but at the same time, it can be spent easily on replacing costly parts on an IIIM...

:pimp:
Ask them if they can only extend it for the year plus 10k km's.
That should drop the R38k by about R10k.

call bmw and ask them how much a diff/gearbox/clutch or flywheel cost...

its going to be very hard to find these parts away from the dealers the car is not old enough yet...

If you have the money, extend it!!! It's worth it, look at Niel333's CSL, a new motor was authorised on the last day of his MP (something like R140 - R170K) ...better safe than sorry, especially those cars.....megga money if something little goes wrong !! :nonono:

On an ///M, definitely extend. If/When you put it up for sale, extended MP is a big plus

The ///M parts, does not appear on any scrap yard, or your local Midas spares outlet.
Can you upgrade to a later model with 38k ?
If yes, then rather do that. MP fixed.
I would get something more "standard" and chip it for M performance
