I am surprised the 340 does so well, over 100 kg heavier, BMW definitely conservative on the output of that engine. Fantastic package and great video!

The presenter in the video is actually an ex-BMW sales person. I think he was at BMW Sandton?

For most of us who have very decent (but not phenomenal) driving skills, the AWD safety and usability of the M340i makes more sense than a full fat M3.
Especially, if you drive it daily.
For me though, an X3 M40i would be my perfect everyday/family car.

The "driver" of the ///M just annoyed the crap out of me with his slow reactions. Other than that, good video!
No doubting the M340i is a capable car!

dont water down passion with sense...that 340 will never be a //M even if its faster. And on top of that, never have sports cars been easier to daily.

i mean you won't trade Carvelas for Green Cross haha

A great real-world comparison as he mentions.

It's nothing new though, the newer generation top of the range 'regular' model will always keep the previous generation m-car honest.

It also shows how far tech is advancing and power levels. 280kw and 500nm is proper.

Well I have my choice :D And would choose it again every time.

I know because of what I have I’ll sound like a fan boy with my comments.

In most impromptu TLGP’s you rarely ever engage LC so 9/10 times it’s going to be going from the line without LC.

Rolling there is very little that can challenge the F80. The 100-200 times in these things standard are very rapid.

I will concede though that when it comes to Standing launches I’m prepared and willing to get the hiding. For the driving please and taughtness that the F80 offers. Unless it’s over a 1km cause I’d win that too. :p

Here's another interesting video from Racechip. There is a tuned M340i in SA running in the low 11s already which shows the future of the x drive.
