M3 with Motorplan Comment

Hi All

I have the opportunity to buy what seems to be a very clean E46 M3. I went to BMW to see if the car had any comments on the motorplan, which it did. They couldn't tell me what is was, but the guy I asked said he wouldn't worry about it.

Is there a way for me to find out what the details of the comment was?

The car was still on motorplan after the comment and I had a quality check done by BMW very recently and it came back clean for accident damage...

Any help would be great

Thanks

If they're not willing to show you the vehicle history you should maybe ask the seller to request the print out and to forward it to you. Then you can do some further investigating.

As far as I know, bmw accident related comments are recorded using a code indicating the severity of the damage. Eg. R50000-R100000

You should be able to pick up this code and maybe the auto repair centre that was used- then you could contact them with the vehicle details and request a copy of the repair invoice.

Hope this helps.

PM the VIN to John from Leo Haese and maybe he would be able to help out.

The fact that the vehicle was still on plan after the comment means that it was simply repaired by BMW or at an approved repair centre if bodywork or something.

Just phone another dealer. Tell them you want to buy it and need the details. I did it and no problem.

POPI.

I was under the impression the POPI act protects personal information of people? Didn't realize it also includes cars?

The car is your personal property and thus all information pertaining to the vehicle is privileged. Dealers that hand this out willynilly can get into some trouble.

I did exactly this for a Mini GP I wanted to buy - even got the original invoice from the panelbeater in the end. If you speak to the right people you can get the answers you are looking for.
