based on looks, then everybody would pick the m3,i know i would.

but on my salary a m3 is out of my league, and a 335i would then be the option to take.

personally i like the 335i,non motor sport, looked at two yesterday at bmw

just my 3 cents

Colin, I agree to a point... For the money you need to fork out on an M3, the question I ask myself is: "Is it worth it if I only plan to drive it to work and back?" , and sadly the answer is "No!!it isn't" :nonono:

The truth is that if you buy an M3, it should be driven for what it was built for, and on the street to work and back doesn't cut it!!

The argument about money not being an object, is a shit argument, as only a sellect few members on this forum is fortunate enough to go and buy what the want.

I myself would LOVE to own a M3, M5, M6, 1M...well, ANYONE of the M cars, purely for what they are... GREAT cars at the TOP of their respective classes, but sadly cant afford it.

Yes, I can get an E36/E46 M3 with what I can afford to pay now, but then again, like you say, rather go 135/335i, and get close to the same performance for a price I can afford, and most likely it will still have motorplan, so if something breaks, they fix it!

PS: For that matter, for what the E92 M3 goes for, I would MUCH rather buy something like Abmi's 550i, and have a big car, with a MOERSE nice engine, and performance like you wont believe!!

Looks wise the M3 gets my vote over and over.I drive my 335 daily, and yes its modded, and between the 2 theres no contest that the 335 being modded is faster,i cant speak for a 135 but stock for stock the M is quicker than my 335,that said,if given the choice between my modded 335 and my M,Id go M power everytime, when you drive an M car its not just about how fast it goes in a straight line, being fast is part and parcel seeing at its the benchmark for most cars, but aside from speed theres the sound, the drive, the feel of the car everything just supercedes the 335 in everyway, iknw alot of people that at some point hope to own an M car,and owning one i can see why.and whether i get flamed for this or not,i got a 335 because i couldnt find a 1M,jus my 2c.i love my 335 and i luv my jb4,but neither will compare to an M car IMHO

Sorry buddy have to disagree with you there, car nowadays are so advanced and well balanced that you cannot tell it if is a cruiser or a sports car.

Is not like back in the days where mclaren F1 the car is so loud you have to put headphones on it in order to drive.

Things cost what it cost, engineering and design, can people afford and willing to pay for It? Why use a mont blanc pen when there is a BIC Pen? Why get a LV bag when you can get a guess Bag? Why buy from woolsworth when you can get from shoprites?

There will always be luxury and benchmark, but there will always be value for money. And like most comments I have read from other fanatics, it all boils down to own personal preference. Is not if you need it or not or if you have it and is there, is are you happy with it, and that's the most important of them all:thumbs:

It's easier to find an M car than it is to find a 545i/550i.

Anything that has the ///M badge on it, usually comes with a nice price tag too, so whereas the initial outlay might be the same, you have to factor in the difference your insurance and maintenance post motorplan will end up costing you. Tally this all up and it paints a different picture
