Heres some food for thought. The x35's need a modded twin/single turbo six cylinder 3.0L motor to beat a N/A small capacity V8 at altitude. Yes, thats how good the M is.

:fencelook:

yes but i can buy a 135i for wife and myself with the same money and we can both leave the m3 behind and all the while we can do it in as much comfort as the m3 driver

:fencelook:

here we go again :roflol:

Exactly my point, so what is the use of spending all that lolly on a M then.

If TLGP's are your thing then why spend 500k on a x35 when you can spend 100k on a Golf Chico with a big turbo motor?

All depends what you looking for I guess.

M3 = Enthusiast Drivers Car
x35 = Fast Family Car
Turbo Chico = Fast 1/4 Mile :)

Is beating an E36 m3 that much big deal to you???

You ran ahead of an e36 M3 well done

E36 M3.2 can beat a X35 , its been done to many times already at the Reef.
More than a 400m run. Driver skills FTW !

I was just pondering about something... Talking strictly about n/a motors and not f/I , is there any engine out there that gives the straight six or the v8 motors in the M's a good run for their money? And if so, which motor comes closest? Talking all brands of course.... Including Isuzu :roflol:

This engine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M156_engine
would murder any N.A I6 or V8 ///M whether it is fitted to a tank or a puny little C class

Wow... that's impressive! Can't believe the figures it produces!
It seems though as if the engine's lifespan isn't all that long.

:roflol: no the m3 is for those who are lack ... nevermind.

i repeat to those that are struggling to understand. the 135i is a lot more than straight line speed.

Perhaps it is, but its nothing even close to an M car when it comes to driving dynamics.

:nonono:... It isn't modded... Which means it wasn't a real run...?
Damn.... I really thought my little M3 was throwing it down.
Well it's good to know at least... Tx Brandon

@ saber .... Yes. She is a perfect little M. Best things I ever did buying her. I'm sure all M owners feel the same.

Hey man, dont feel bad, E46 ///M is still a fine piece of machinery and remember after all its an ///M!!!!!!!!

It's a good thing those x35's are quick, otherwise you could easily mistake them for a 320i/125i without being able to see the badge :roflol:

Not to bash the x35's, they are amazing machines, real achievement from BMW, but it's a plain old 3/1/X series, with a turbo.

An ///M car will always turn heads, and if you gave me keys to a stock E92 M3 and a modded E92 335i, I'd be in the M3 before the 335i keys even hit the floor. :inlove:

However, that is purely personal preference and a lot of dreaming. Hopefully one day I can afford a V8 M3. Being realistic though, I could see my next car coming from the 2L turbo BMW stable - those are beastly little engines.

Problem with the wet panties is, whilst driving the IS they'll throw the panties at you. But this time they gonna stick to your windscreen. Can only be done by a IS, nothing else will stick.

A driver of a 135 almost put his car into the bushes, trying to chase me up Peacevale.

I'm sure everyone whom has travelled up there on the N3, will know what i'm talking about.

Everyone knows that the m3 is superb in handling and a track master, in our small little twisty roads trust me a 135 will have no problem sticking with a m3. Of course both must be capable drivers.
M3 are gret cars, but for much much less the 135 really makes owning a m3 pointless, especially with our lovely roads. A lot of gus buy m3's not because they love the driving experience or because its so well balanced , but just so that they have that STATUS!!

And that status is not unfounded at all.
M is developed by M for a reason and not without purpose. The x35i is not built with the same purpose as the M and thus will never be quite as good, especially in stock form.
That being said, x35i is absolutely Phenomenol! In every regard.

As for the AMG motor, Nom Nom Nom. 420 n/a KW!! Yes please! That is engineering with a sound almost good enough to send an M cowering, but then again, BMW knows better

The AMG division is doing some really great stuff with the V8 granted but just think about it for years while BMW was making high reving N/A engines AMG also had to add a supercharger or a turbo or two to keep up with the M division. take the C32 amg vs E46 M3 want really much competition i could be wrong here but that's just my opinion.

Well I only drive my M3 on weekends, sometimes only twice a month. But i tell you it gets driven like how a M3 was built to be driven.

Straight line is fun, but you get bored very quickly.

Here's a quick one:

Merc's most powerful N/A is the SLS with 67.7 kw/litre

BMW e46 M3 - 78.75 kw/litre
BMW e9x M3 - 77.25 kw/litre
BMW e60 M5 - 74.6 kw/litre

Let the figures do the talking
