M3 Maintenance

Hi Guys,

I always wanted to buy an E36/ E46 M3 but am scared that I am going to pay a lot in maintenance. How hectic is it to maintain an M off motorplan? Is it worth the trouble?

Regards,

Viven, it is so worth it, its unreal.

However if you are going to rely on BMW for its service, you better order a large supply of KY up front, cause its going to really hurt.

Those cars are easily maintainble if your prepared to get your hands dirty once in a while, and parts do carry a premium.

If your willing to read and get a bit dirty, you may be OK, if not, then you shall be poor

I agree with Leonard

There are plenty DIY's out there if your are not too mechanically inclined. By getting your hands a little dirty you could potentially save thousands on services and skip on the supply of KY.

Its always going to be risky buying a used M car, so do your homework first, but remember - the higher the risk - the higher the reward:excited:

I just had an oil service for my E36 M3 at the dealer.

R1400

Its not expensive unless you break something. Then your fucked.

Thanks guys.... thing is I don't know too much about the mechanical stuff but am trying to learn. Maybe one day when I know enough, I will buy one. Until then..... keep saving for one with motorplan.

Viven,

Wrong approach bud, if you do it that way, you'll never get there.

All that you need beforehand is a mentality, that "if it breaks, I am going to look at it myself, and I am prepared to learn, and fix this myself"

That is the only way you are ever going to learn, as long as you keep the car under maintanace, you wont touch it, cause its under motor plan and too sacred to loose it.

Also, you cannot learn from just reading, you need to do.

Go buy the M3, take somebody with that knows what they are talking about, so that you do not buy a lemon, and get it over with, dealers are open till 1 on a saturday, I expect a full report of cars to buy tomorrow.

Go for it man  We are here to help

And what about resetting the service lights?

Invest in a reset tool looking at +- R800
