Hi, I have an e36 325 single vanos and I want some power gain out of it.
so i have read that the cams from the 3.0l e36 m3 should fit in.

Should I go for it ? Is it worth it ? What power gains could I expect ? And what mods should accompany it ?

Thanks in advance :ty:

They're suppose to fit but I think you might need to use the cam trays from the s50 aswell. No 100% tho.

A good tune would do the trick. Nikhil will be able to guide you in the right direction with regards to the nitty gritty. Drop him a pm

I believe that the cams you have read about that fit in the 325/328i are the US spec M3 cams. The US spec E36 came with a totally different engine to the M3s that we have and they were more like 330i’s. If you were to do this swop you would have to find a set of US spec M3 cams. In all honesty it may be cheaper to Go to van der linde or Sav and get a set of custom grind cams which they recommend. A 264/256 setup will be ideal for street/ daily use, chances are your engine is pushing some mileage like all the other M50s around so while you in there you may as well drop in some fresh lifters and tappet cover gaskets.

Gizmo feel free to add if I’ve missed anything or correct me if I’m wrong.

Existing Inlet cam moves to exhaust
3,0L inlet cam is placed as the new inlet cam on the 2,5L motor

The s50B30 cams will not work.

If you do not do head work do not do the swap.

Valves and seats should be cut and re profiled.

well if you making all the effort you may as well just get a set made vs forking out 14k for a set of shrick cams

These are the specs of the shrick cams tho, Im sure old dutch racing can do a custom grind, they do have a 1000hp E36 so they know what they doing

Cam Specs:
Intake - 264 degree, 11.2mm lift
Exhaust - 256 degree, 10.6mm lift

just be prepared for other expenses that you may come across, you also looking at an estimated R300 per lifter x24 for oem . I would highly recommend changing these if your car has high mileage.

Furthermore you have a vanos engine so I would get the seals replaced while you getting the cams sorted
