Good morning all, hope everyone is well

I recently purchased one of my dream cars

But unfortunately having some problems with her

So she's from smg cpt
53000kms on the clock
Mods that was disclosed to me was catted downpipe from colab tuning
Mods that was not disclosed was a stage 2 tune and upgraded charge pipe (not really complaining)

So the issue i have is whenever I switch to manual mode to shift i keep getting the drive train issue after maybe 6 mins into it

Both when spirited driving and normal driving

If i run her in normal auto she doesn't throw any error

Both spirited and normal driving

It's been 19 days since i got the vehicle

Based in DBN (ballito area)

Any information would be greatly appreciated

It will throw an error so get the car on a proper diagnostic.
SMG capetown should do this since the car was bought from them.
Sometimes errors can be blocked with an aftermarket tune so maybe get SMG to flash the car back to stock and see if the error comes back.
Its only been 19 days so send it back for them to resolve

Thanks bro, i did message my salesman now hopefully it's something small or nothing at all and it can be resolved, it's strange because if the auto works without any issues why only manual is a issue?

Could be many things.... Until you get the error codes you shooting in the dark.
could be minor. I would suggest asking them to flash back to stock for you. Drive it around for a while. If no issues send it in for tuning to your preferred tuning house. You dont know what type of tune is on that car if you did not speak to the previous owner. You dont know whats being hidden either.

I wonder if it perhaps has a tcu tune as well which could be causing this.

Since it is from SMG I am sure they can get SMG Ballito to have a look for you.

I recently purchased my F30 from SMG Century City, Cape Town. The after-sales service was just pathetic, you would think that they have some sort of agreement or understanding to resolve any issues at your nearest SMG dealer, that didn't seem to be the case. Unless the sales-person was just daft.

I

I also suspect the transmission was flashed
But hard to tell
if you have the car in Drive and it shows the gear example D1 D2 D3 ect then it probably has a tune. If it just shows D then it probably has no tune. everyone goes with XHP. Not sure if there is any other tunes for TCU.

My initial experience was pathetic they kept telling me the car was sold and had a M240i available (not everyone has 700k to splash)

I ended up speaking to their TL and then only the car magically came back to the floor lol

From memory bro it says D
Only in manual has figures next to it

Another case was i shifted above the 8th gear (made a mistake) and it threw that drivetrain error

Don't get me started on the buying experience too 🤬

Anyway, I hope they resolve your issues so that you can enjoy your M235i to the fullest.

Same with all BMW dealerships... They operate like completely different companies.

Not really related to OP's question but I had the exact opposite experience with SMG Tygervalley. Purcahsed a 220d around August 2021, and within the 6 month warranty period stipulated in the CPA, I had issues withe EGR. They arranged the repair to be done for their account at my local BMW dealer in Bloemfontein. Seems it really comes down to the salesperson and how their definition of customer service. Should I find myself in the market for another vehicle I would definitely deal with SMG Tygervally again.

Unfortunate situation bud...in my opinion, your best course of action would be to communicate with the CPT dealer, and get them to agree to have one of the KZN branches to diagnose the car.

Alternatively, return the car:(.

You spent your hard earned monies to get your Dream car, these kind of gremlins is only going to leave a sour taste...and given recent comments...dealers dont like to help out in a hurry. Customer service has taken a major dip...especially in KZN.

In general, most guys trade-in tuned cars when there is an issue...not saying that this is 100% the case here.

This doesnt seem like an issue with gearbox to be honest, the Stage 2 tune possibly is doing the change in engine dynamics to give you that Sport or Sport+ drive experience BUT it could be engine items that can throw the codes...e.g. misfire or vacuum leak or something that could be caused when the car is ready to go WOT.

A diagnostic is best to check out first to see what codes are being thrown and then take it from there otherwise the rest is speculation.

To be honest, the one thread the guy had issues and we all said Shokc munts when it was actually steering rack lol. But best bet, get codes read...where are you based? If in Cape Town, I would say take it to Xcede CPT, @Xcede Performance & @Sherwin@xcede can read the codes and help guide you on these cars best.

I have the N55 and many of others I know and sometimes these symptoms maybe something small out of whack, even in the tune possibly. Only way, get the codes read and in future, invest in Carly Bluetooth dongle and software so you can read codes yourself when the car feels unhappy or also to to modify small changes on the car itself. Worth the money when you have these cars.

Agree with the above, first step is to get the car scanned... I can assist in Durban.
