M140i runflats to normal tyres

Hi all - does anyone in the jhb/sandton region have a m140i running non-runflat tyres? Wanted to go for a ride (if possible) before I decide to fit RFT or Non-RFT on my car

Currently have RFT on them and hoping there is a decent difference in ride going to normal tyres.

The M140i like any other F20 with 18 inch rims have low profile tyres 40(F) & 35(R) - the increase in comfort with changing over to non-RFT will be felt, you will feel a difference HOWEVER make no mistake...the non_RFTs might give-in much easier due to softer sidewalls. I had this experience with my Merc and then the 320d and M135i and my 320I…all had same tyre sizes….the Merc didn’t have RFT while the other 3 had/have.



The Merc I changed many tyred due to the getting cut and giving in easily to the bad road conditions we have while all the BMWs with the RFTs were much more resilient.

Thanks for the reply, yeah looking primary from a comfort perspective - I dont mind the softer sidewalls (this is the first car i've owned with runflats) so dont mind the loss in durability

I have a x3 f25 and going from runflats to non runflats feel so much nicer. have not tried to go fast round corners though

I have a set of non runflats on my 19s that I use in an around town ... Reason is that if they go they cheaper to replace and I keep my OEM rims with runflats In the garage so whenever I go long distance I just pop them on...I used my runflats twice this year already
