Went from and E82 135i to the F20 M135i. I notice there's no oil temp gauge?

Always worried about pushing a cold car, and I know the N54 took a good 10mins of driving to get up to temp. Am I being blind or am I stuck just guestimating when the cars warmed up?

Thanks

There is a process to access a few hidden level readings - including oil temp.

I think its on the forum under E90 hidden menu or such - try searching for it.

As far as I know, there's no oil temp gauge on the M135i's. Always good to drive at least 10/5 minutes for the war to warm up before busting it.

Thanks but I can't see myself doing that every time I get in the car! I'll just wait 10 or so mins before pushing it.

FYI... r0ckf1re I was the one who messaged you on the St forum Finally found a decent M135i :coolShake:

How long does it take you to get an oil level reading via the cluster on this car? If it is roughly 5-10 minutes from the moment you start and drive off, then that's at least a good way to sort of gauge the warm up. This is how I have always treated my E90, start, drive off, and keep checking the oil level until I get a reading which usually takes roughly 10 minutes, then at least I am confident that enough time has gone by to allow for the engine and gearbox to have warmed up enough. You can check the hidden cluster menu and usually it's menu 7 that shows the engine coolant temperature, so you can use that to get a sense of how long it typically takes for the engine to warm up. It's a bit of a pain to have to use the hidden menu EVERY time, so probably best to just observe it for a while to see how long it typically takes. Stupid of BMW to remove such an important gauge!
