M135i lumpy/rough idle on cold start.

Hi All

I'm new here... Just wanted to share this, just in case someone else experiences the same issue and does not know what the solution is.

So, as the winter chill crept in, I noticed that when I first start up in the mornings, the car would idle funny. I could feel like a weird throttle blip/dip. It would do so intermittently for about 10 to 15 seconds only, and then it'll be totally normal from there on out. So basically, as soon as the exhaust flap opens after the engine is slightly warmed up, the problem goes away completely - until the next morning...

So I phoned Auric Auto hoping to speak to someone technical who could help me troubleshoot this.

My thinking was that if I can get a recommendation over the phone rather than having to book the car in, letting it stay overnight so they could test the cold start, etc etc would be less of a hassle. Anyway, they gave me the normal "Book your car in and we will take a look".

The weekend came and I went for a long overdue blast.
(I live very close to work so I don't do much mileage. Car only just clocked 23000kms and I have it brand new since Jan 2013)

So I opened her up nicely - and BOOM. Problem was gone. Been running smoooooth for the past 5 weeks.

LOL ;)

I had a similar issue on my 135, mine unfortunately didnt end as well as it required three of my injectors to be replaced as they were leaking.

I believe the previous gen 135i (N54) had the problematic Piezo high pressure injectors. The N55 engine uses Bosch high pressure injectors.

But yes, thankful that it is sorted now.

Lucky for me I booked it in for injector inspection while in plan, replacement was after but lucky for me BM covered the cost due to previous history
