So, when I collected it at the dealer, I was sad that it did not say "M Performance" across the back but was advised that, it was redesigned and this is the newer one which has a stamp plate and not embossed for everyone to see. (A step back IMHO)

Start the car, rev it a little and no Pops and slightly louder than stock. (Valve was unplugged and in full open position. (Asked the dealer to do this for more noise)

Leave the dealer and accelerate a little and its still soft, no noise and one would think its stock!

I do notice that the car felt a little lazy and BOV was a little louder.

After +-25KM on the highway I lift of the throttle and hear some burble and feel there is hope but still disappointed as it is so silent :skit:

...Continues from the other thread...

I get home and it has some burble and pops so I google the possible issue.

Some talk of breakin and some say it is what it is.

Start the car yesterday and it is louder on cold start. Much louder.

I drive to gym with the windows down and the car is noticeably louder, sound a little like it did with the DP but not as loud.

Leaving gym and knowing that the car is now warmer I give it some juice and start to like this new found sound. Its refined and not over the top but still not what I expected.

Used if to M Fest and then went home and parked her off before the rain arrived.

This morning I go to gym and the lazy feeling was gone with the car feeling its responsive self again with more burble and pops. Not as dramatic as I want but existent.

On my way home I feel the urge to hear what its like, rev past 4000rpm and the tone of the system changes :slow: I am amazed at this new sound that has now become present.

As I drive harder, it gets louder :hammerhead:

Driving home now with the wifey and on my best behavior and the car sounds civilized but wild when given some gas.

The BOV still sounds louder and I know that BMW claim no Power gain but I do not agree.

Even if its just 1/5wkw gain, it is much more responsive as there is no lag at all and spool noise is also louder.

I think it will definetly sound better as I add some KM to the system and hope that it gets louder.

The sound has changed and it adds a sort of personality to the car.

I would advise all people that are on the fence about the MPE to install ut as there is no drone and the sound does grow on you.

Video to follow soon :fencelook: :smilebounce:

So safe to say, my buddy had the exact same experience with his 335i 2013 when he fitted the MPE as well. he was gutted for the first 4 days but since we drove from Randburg to Bedfordview everyday....the exhaust livened up and came to its senses a bit quicker. before we knew it, we would be taking lunch time drives just to hear the differences and boy was it lekker!

The dealer told us though when we went to pick his car up that the 135i/235i has a better sound due to the shorter exhaust though. Enjoy bud, i envy you!!:bravo::bravo:

So, I tried to do another video today.

Apart from my keys falling, I could hear the exhaust but the I do not think the video has caught a lot of it. Mostly the rasp.

Will try and do a Cold Start this weekend :=):

Pops are getting more regular now and the tone is also getting deeper and more of a sports car type of sound.

Similar to when the DP was in but different.

'Sup, did any of you open the valve on the exhaust? Specifically on an m135i? I've read that it really enhances the tone (deeper and more aggro tone, burbles lot more noticeable etc) and so, I'm considering doing this, having installed an mpe on my m135.

Only issue/doubt I have now is that this decreases lower down torque, as advised by a friend who's a mac at BMW.

Did this happen to your car when opening the valve? Keen to hear from you guys, specifically m135i owners.

Thanks

BMW left mine unplugged.

Did not really feel any drop in power. Car still drives the same and sounds louder.

Try it, wont hurt or throw any errors.

Yes it is better than the Clubsport in so many ways.

It is much more Car IMHO when compared to a Golf.

Not taking anything away from the Clubsport, it is hands down the best GTi ever made and much more refined than the normal GTi and its counter parts including the new 7.5 GTi.
The F20 is just better built and much more solid on the road.
Yes, the Golf 7 is newer which shows in some aspects like the Gear Box and the Power Delivery but still does not match the robust build when compared to the BMW.

If i had to pick GTi\R over a M135\140 I would take the BMW with my eyes closed but if it was a GTi\R over a 118\120 then the VW gets the Win.

Hi, on a rolling , which car would be stronger between the clubsport and a stock m135i

The one with the bigger engine

Will be tight I think , the clubsport makes around 200wkw,.heard they are quite strong

I’m sure the M135i will take it. Those cars have very good legs.

Thanks guys :praise: :smilebounce: Love the MPE more and more every day.

Stock for stock, off the line the BMW hands down.

Rolling is hard to say for sure. The CS made 200wkw and that DSG Box is magic.
Depending on speed the race starts at and driver I guess.

Clubsport is not that strong. My brother, as with an E90 330d, pre faclift (160kw). The car has software. From a standing start, with the launch control both cars run together. The Golf was stock, but it is rated at 195kw and the 330d is heavier. So, for me the 330d is impressive. Im quite sure the M135i will go away from the 330d.

Pre-lci 330d and lci 330d will both lose by quite a bit against an M135i when stock. The gap between the pre-lci 330d and Lci 330d will probably be similar to that of the lci vs M135i.

I had to use the CS this pasts couple of days and it does have that whole go cart feel and feels faster but look down at the speed and its not going as fast as it feels.

The CS made 200wkw on the Dyno and the Performance Pack I had did 169wkw (I think) and they do get the power down a little well.

The BMW is so much more fun to drive and faster but you don't feel it.

Happy to say I do not miss the CS :smilebounce:
