It was great meeting all you guys. It was great to see all the cars especially the older ones producing the right power. Its proof of the M Series durability.

A lot of you guys missed the E46 M3 turbo that ran. My word that thing is strong.

I got there as it ended, but when the car came off the rollers you could hear it was not to be taken lightly.

BTW the Black E92 M3 sounds wicked, does it have an aftermarket exhaust.

I love the sound too. Its a aftermarket built by Chiplogic in house.

Animosity, how did your M5 do on the dyno?

190.8 kW at the wheels.
Ambient temps were quite a bit higher than when you had your runs, and they didn't re-calibrate the dyno for the higher temps, which would've given me an extra few kWs.
So I should be spot on with you.

What was your final figure?

Since we posting figures:
I made 267wkw pre flash and with a generic flash it jumped to 286wkw. I did enjoy my drive home cause he moved the limiter to 8500rpm

Nice one George!

Tell me, how do you rate the differences between Snails and Chiplogic's dyno then when comparing your results?

iirc you made 270 at snails as well?
Why were the rest of us making 10 odd kw less than other dyno's? (30kw in my case.)

Or how bout the fact that Ary's car and mine made the same power(or less) than stock cars? Is this due to our dodgy software? Or are there other factors at play?

I can see where you are going with this but what I would do is advise you to run your car as soon as you can at the dyno you normally use prior to making any conclusive opinion about your software or the dyno for that matter. This will show if there is a problem with the car that needs to be addressed.
I cannot really compare my cars run to Snails dyno as my car has had most of its valvetrain changed since. At a stage I ran the car again at OB and it only made 242wkw and I had not even noticed the drop in power. You should also keep in mind that there where no correction changes made on the day so what the car ran is what you got. This put the cars that ran midday at a disadvantage to the cars that ran in the morning although the dyno room temperature only changed by 3 degrees throughout the day. There is also a slight chance that some cars experienced slippage during the run but this generally will affect turbo cars more. As a matter of interest Hyperpower has a new update for all there dynos and systematically the dynos across the country are starting to show less power than before. This started initially at Snail, I believe KAR has or is getting the new software as well as Chiplogic which seems to have had it always. This will not cause a 30kw difference though. A M5 with a exhaust from TNT will show that power over a stock one alone.
If you think there are other factors you should mention them and have them addressed always keeping in mind that it was not a dyno competition. There where a few "stock" cars that where run that revved far past the limiter as well but you have to respect the owner of the car and if he says its stock it is stock.

To put it into perspective George, I don't use the M5 every day. Since my last dyno run I have covered probably 500Km's.
At the last dyno at KAR I ran 310hp atw.
No changes made since then.

KAR is also a hyperpower dyno and they have also had people complain about lower power readings etc of late.

So that's just on 230kw atw at KAR using the same dyno to 197kw atw at Chiplogic.
My query is not about the differences between the dyno's. It's all about the day and what it was made out to be.

To me (And remember I am not affiliated to anyone) it seemed more like a marketing day for Chiplogic than a pure dyno day for M enthusiasts as I thought it would be.

Also in my opinion it seemed like Chiplogic was out to prove a point. Why cool down the stock cars with water on the engine and intakes etc and not with the modded cars?

Anyway, as said on the day. I was there for the fun of it. I don't care about the results. Would have just been nice if I could tell the people who advised me not to go as it will be 'rigged' that they were spouting nonsense. Instead, at the moment I can't help but wonder.

As an objective spectator, I highly doubt Chiplogic were trying to prove any point. It was a free day and they seemed to give advice to all participants (including you)

More tuners should market themselves and put themselves out there like that.

For the rest of us thanks OB for the event!

It wasnt a competition Biofreak, so dont take it so bad, if you want to verify your results do so, but there is no need to point fingers because you lost 30kw.
