As an objective spectator, I highly doubt Chiplogic were trying to prove any point. It was a free day and they seemed to give advice to all participants (including you)

More tuners should market themselves and put themselves out there like that.

For the rest of us thanks OB for the event!

It wasnt a competition Biofreak, so dont take it so bad, if you want to verify your results do so, but there is no need to point fingers because you lost 30kw.
I'm not pointing fingers bud. Don't put words in my mouth. I would have liked to prove the people wrong who said it would be biased to other tuner brand cars.

Unfortunately I am not of this opinion because of just my car.

Anyway, it was my idle musings.

I am very simply asking why some cars were on par with their other dyno readings and others were not.

Thanks OB it was great to finally have my M coupe on a dyno.
Its good to know the cars current performance.
I look forward to doing a few minor modifications and bringing it back to the dyno soon.

As for looking like Bear Grylls?? Ha ha Maybe if I was in my Land rover.

Thanks again to everyone, those v8s sound freaken awesome!

KAR is also a hyperpower dyno and they have also had people complain about lower power readings etc of late.

So that's just on 230kw atw at KAR using the same dyno to 197kw atw at Chiplogic.
My query is not about the differences between the dyno's. It's all about the day and what it was made out to be.

To me (And remember I am not affiliated to anyone) it seemed more like a marketing day for Chiplogic than a pure dyno day for M enthusiasts as I thought it would be.
If anything Chiplogic marketed its facilities and not its product

Also in my opinion it seemed like Chiplogic was out to prove a point. Why cool down the stock cars with water on the engine and intakes etc and not with the modded cars?
I think the people that had their cars cooled down with water requested it. I personally do not practice this, you will not even see me at the track with ice or water

Anyway, as said on the day. I was there for the fun of it. I don't care about the results. Would have just been nice if I could tell the people who advised me not to go as it will be 'rigged' that they were spouting nonsense. Instead, at the moment I can't help but wonder.
Its very unfortunate that people would say that it is necessary to rig dyno outcomes when a company has proven its track record at the tracks. The only solution to prove to yourself that it was not rigged is for you to bring your car back and run it again. We can log the throttle position on the run. Once done Chiplogic will book and pay for a run on any dyno of your choice and see what the difference is. I am willing to accompany you with my own car for a fixed reference. Then you can be satisfied that you where not done in. We can also see if there is any clutch slip that is causing the low reading that you are not satisfied with

I do not know if you noticed but no one was keeping a record of what figures which car was making. I arranged the cars to go on the dyno and I do not know who was who when I was calling the names up or which car was which and neither did OB. He even offered the Xcede Cape Town agent a trial run without realising who he was.
If Chiplogic was out to do a marketing campaign it would have run its cars in sequence to the people that where there but it was rather opted not to run any of the cars or compare figures to tuned cars. You can ask anyone there on the day that not in a single case was somebody punted software or their graph posted over a Chiplogic tuned car. Its a pity you where not there to have witnessed the effort put into getting traction of the Savspeed (competitor) car.
If you do run the car somewhere else at your own discretion please be kind enough to inform the outcome and maybe come and amend your post.

Thanks for clarifying George.

As said, I am not making any accusations. I am merely querying what I was told before hand.
Again, as I said I don't care about the results. a kw here or there on my car hardly makes any difference. It's not like it's a drag car or dyno queen. I attend some of both but it's moreso for the fun aspect of things.

I have plenty of irregularities in my mind but will refrain from posting any more dribble.

Thanks for arranging the day :)

I have started getting a few phone calls now because of this thread.

I just want everyone to understand that is reading this is that this and the N54 dyno day was motivated by me for the forum members. Chiplogic is my tuner but I do not market for them in anyway, many of you asked me questions in regard to pricing etc and my repsonse was that I do not work there. My car has been in the Speed and Sound in three pictures over the last two issues and there is not a single Chiplogic sticker in site.
As for Chip Logic using the day as a marketing tool. Not a single photo was taken from Chip Logic or myself. No graph or chart was done comparing tunes either between attendees or past clients that are on the dyno data base. Whoever chose to disclose their mods did so. Some Durban stock cars revved far past their rpm limiter that where not pointed out or scrutinized for there lack or accessive power. Chip Logic did not have staff monitoring all the groups of people punting their product. It was a casual day for likely minded people to gather and chat about their cars and in some cases solve mysterious problems. When we had the N54 day a car with another tune was highly underpowered. A big thing was not made out of it and we found on Saturdays dyno day that his problem had been solved and was serious enough to have caused a failure in the long term. This is what these days are about and in my heart I would rather have these days at a place where the owner does not sit with the invoice book in his hand and has the decency to offer honest advice.
Someone did leave the day with a trial software flash on their car. When he came back he shared his experience, OB could have easily run the car again and posted the dyno but thats not what it was about. The smile on his face was enough for me.

So now can someone post some pics please hehe.

I think its best to express yourself and your personal opinion. Maybe make a new thread to discuss it and the irregularities so that they are not repeated in the future. I would be very interested for you to run your car somewhere else if possible and that also goes for the people that did not get the expected results. Potentially your car is suffering from the clutch slip more than you think.

Thank you for everyone that attended and for being patient whilst there where delays between runs. It was a great turnout of M cars that even a BMW Track day would be jealous of. Would be great to see some pictures of the cars in all their glory.
Thank you to George as well for taking the time out of his hectic schedule to assist and bring all the audiovisual equipment that was used on the day.

PS we have decided that on the next dyno day we will be adding airfuel ratio readings as well as logged throttle position for the naysayers.

Stay posted for a quartermile day we will arrange in conjunction with George and BMWFanatics for all BMW cars. With these type of numbers we can get a significant discount.

Send me your schedule and we make a plan around it hehe. Should be towards the end of October. I do not think I am going to do a dyno day again though.

Which dates is Margate and is it over a two day period?

31st October 2010 Smooth.
I'm also thinking of hitting the coast

Sounds tempting but I think we going to organise the event up here for the 31st. Will rather do Mathuba (Is this true?) in November as the traction is better and it will give me more time to ensure car is running perfect with new turbos. This should also be the last time I compete with my car before selling it.
