Hi guys
Jandre made a very nice video of the day, but it is taking a long time to upload on youtube..only 13 minutes long...love the clip of the cars driving on the N1...great stuff. Oh yes, hearing Jezebel being fired up gave me goose bumps....

It looks like youtube is another 2 hours away from finish.:cursin:

Hello everyone :)

Thanks for the comments.

I have a standard FujiFilm S700 Camera with a UV Lens which I forgot to take off. lol

Just a standard R2000 camera from Incredible Connection but with the correct photography style and Photoshop adjustments you get those pics.

Yeah. get me video and I will play with it and add music and so on.. Liqui-Fruit Mike.... I have been asked to have my car featured in Max My Ride magazine next month... it will be the cover car and I need pics done in the next 3 weeks.. I already have a friend taking pics but perhaps you can join us and we can select the best of both your pics????

We'll be shooting as soon as we have some good weather which at this stage will probably be next week... I can't pay but you'll get your name in the credits if you are keen?

(BTW - when I did the drive-by it was at about 5,600 RPM and I still don't want to push the engine)

Hey Matt

I realised as I watched the RPM the whole way.. You never took it over 5k.

If you want to do a shoot then give me a shout as it would be awesome. What location do you have in mind?

645nm - will do just like you want it :)

Mike - I'm thinking of shooting in the harbor... I want the whole industrial feel and it's one of the safest industrial areas.. perhaps on Saturday morning and evening as the lighting will be best then??

M@!

PS - Hey Liqui-Fruit.... considering we could only use 2/3rds of the rev range... how did you find Jezzy??

Hey hey

Mike - I'm thinking of shooting in the harbor... I want the whole industrial feel and it's one of the safest industrial areas.. perhaps on Saturday morning and evening as the lighting will be best then??

Hmm yes. Agreeing. You need a industrial area with nice silver contrasts else the car will lose definition.. The other thing is Shadows... We need to try make sure there wont be any of them. The rims stand out a lot so we need some reflections from there...

Im also thinking the Waterfront is a good idea... In fact there is a spot just outside Aston Martin that is pure sexiness... Also some shots with people around the vehicle but the car in focus and people blurred (Indicated speed). There are a lot of unique places to get fantastic shots. Your car is also styled in a very modern way... That with Modern buildings would be awesome.

The next thing is that you will need to pay me to detail it prior to the shoot :spit:

PS - Hey Liqui-Fruit.... considering we could only use 2/3rds of the rev range... how did you find Jezzy??

Well... Its an interesting thing... I dont actually know.

I have been in Porsche's, modded Subaru's and a few others and your BMW was my first real modified BMW that I had been in and it was really difficult to gauge. It was quick but not "scary" quick. In a Subi when you put your foot down it scares the hell out of you. In a Porsche you go quick but its designed to be extra extra quick so you expect it in this false sense of security way... Whereas Jezzy was a mixture of all this....

I was impressed by the handling and power delivery. Everything was very smooth (As confirmed by my comment of your suspension being no worse than a Golf GTI) and the power was definitely explosive. There was no denying that she is very powerful and when you planted it, there was no lag or apprehension. Jezzy went where you wanted her to go and she got there very quickly.

Also keep in mind that on Saturday night I went through there in a B7 Audi 1.8T (I know it cant compare) and that seemed very fast at 12 at night... We even did a bit of Chappies in the car... So that may have dulled the experience with your car as I was constantly comparing it to the Audi in my head instead of really enjoying the drive. I also think that knowing (and watching) you only take the car to 5000rpm may have numbed it too. I think that knowing that Jezzy was still being run in sort of left me expecting more. :bawling:

A bit like the trailer to a good movie. If you know what I mean.

I do however think that it is a magnificent car. I was extremely impressed by how well sorted it was and it was really fun to be driven in. But I think you owe me a drive when she is run in. Then I will let you know exactly what I think as IMO all the fun in your car is past 5000rpm

P.S - You putting your plates back on at the robots in town was hilarious. The facial expressions of everyone around us was brilliant :spit:

:dropjaw:

Liqui Fruit?

So now Im not only the forum journalist and Oil Guru but also the forum fruit juice?

P.S - Can I be Cherry flavoured please? :pimp:

Damn dude... that is so opening yourself up to a round of "howzit my cherry" mwahahaha!!

Ok... So quote me for a full detail (since you'll be shooting as an added bonus) and do it on a thread as it will be good advertising for you

Look forward to seeing those planned pics of Jezebel, Mike!!!!

Mike your feedback on your initial drive in jezebel is interesting and have opened a can of worms...and your comparison between a BMW and a scuby...ag come on man.... :dropjaw:

Here is my initial reaction....with more to come...
Your first drive in a really moddified BMW? Where have you been lately? :)

I think you are right it has to do with the fact that you were "expecting" more...We are dealing with a BMW and an M car for that matter not an ugly Scuby!

If you re-read Matt's thread he started off by tweaking/modifying the handling charateristics of the car of an already well acomplished M car...this is the most important part of any modification....you want you car to be flippen fast without throwing the energy of the car and or the energy of the passengers out of the window...in other words a well tuned car will lull you into a false sense of security thinking and feeling that the car is not really "going" that fast but you have just hit 100km/ph in under 4 seconds flat! Now that is fast...and that is what you can expect from a bimmer...I think you will remain disappointed and only get the trailer if you want jezebel to behave like a scuby...sorry dude no flippen way!

My previous 335 was damn quick and the current one is getting there....now if you in it as a passenger you will not "feel" it but the garmin will show you we have just eaten 226km/ph in a few rare seconds...that should be the goal for a well tuned street machine...i think you might have a point about jezebel's bilstein suspension and the comparison to a "Golf" - what an insult...eish man eish...i happen to have the same suspension system..:)...but with a magic button...let me put it this way...and this my final description of fast...can you take your hands off your steering wheel at 200km/ph? I just have to press my bilstein ridecontrol little switch to acomplish that and the car would not give you any idea that we are at those speeds...walla. Thats it for now:thumbsup:

Lol - no can of worms... the scuby (which btw is not ugly to me, just kind of utilitarian) probably has some of the best roadholding of any car if driven in.. those things are truly amazing!!!

But yes.. jezzy does tend to feel slower than she is and bear in mind that the sharp power curves of a turbo (golf/scuby/mitsu etc etc) will always "feel" more hectic than a charger.. my linear boost will never give that sudden rush that a turbo gives you, however the idea of sudden boost coming in on a hard corner scare the shizznizz out of me. I prefer the restrained progressive power of a charger.. Jezzy is built for what she is.... a corner-queen, a mountain-madame... she's the terror of the twisties rather than a strain line weapon.

so Liqui Fruit... where's my quote for a full service.. lol

Alrighty PM sent

I think you are right it has to do with the fact that you were "expecting" more...We are dealing with a BMW and an M car for that matter not an ugly Scuby!

And people say I am biased hahahaha :spit:

20 millionNM I agree with you completely.

The car is magnificant and is a different breed to that of a Subi or say Ferrari. It is a creation which is not only rare but also surprising as there are few M3's that have been given the same committment and attention to detail as Matt's.

Now let me ask you.... Have you ever been in a Porsche 911 Turbo? Or a modified 911 Turbo doing a sprint from robot to robot? If you havnt then please give Porsche Centre a visit.... Thats 0-100km in 3.9 seconds. And if you want to experience handling then I suggest you go for a spin in a properly tuned Subaru or a Porsche Turbo. The Porsche has a G-Force counter for a reason.

Once you have done that then let Matt take you for a drive which is limited to 5000RPM and you will understand why I was left wanting sooo much more. :bawling:

Matt's car is extremely accomplished and I dare say I would prefer it over the Porsche or Subi especially because it is very stealth.. But when you are used to untapped power in a Porsche and you have experienced vehicles like 300 odd kw Subi's at full pace then you will understand my point of view.

And for this reason I have asked Matt to take me for a spin when it is run in because I think all the fun in his car is over 5000RPM. Once it is run in it will be a beast! To be honest I think he may scare me silly once its run in... And that isnt a easy thing to do with me. (The best driver at Porsche Centre tried - He took me to 290km per hour on the freeway next to Canal Walk and I was bored)

Our perspectives of speed are all different.

Another thing that I noticed about the car was how well balanced it felt. Seeing Matt's post above now explains why it felt that way. It is definitely at its most comfortable in the corners as he showed me.

I dont want you guys to think Im not impressed or respectful of the car. Trust me I am. Its a great car

Point taken Mike.
I understand your perspective...just did not like a GTI and Scuby doo to be thrown in the potjie as comparison to an M car...please man. And yes, i am biased...this is a bmw fanatic forum you know.

Eish man 3.9sec in the 0 - 100 dash is no longer a goal sorry,...and I don't have to go to Porsche or scuby for a 300kw odd car...i drive one daily and it is a bmw with stock wheels!!!!

Matt...great description: "Jezzy is built for what she is.... a corner-queen, a mountain-madame... she's the terror of the twisties rather than a strain line weapon." I rest my case...this is what i wanted to say :) but words are scarce when you need them

Hey there

just did not like a GTI and Scuby doo to be thrown in the potjie as comparison to an M car...please man.

Comparing Matt's car to a GTI is a very fair comparison and is in fact a compliment. What I am saying is that Matt was concerned that the ride in his car was too hard. I said it was no worse than GTI standard which means its actually rather good. If Matt hadnt told me he was running aftermarket suspension I would never have known.

And when you consider that Subaru's have some of the best chassis and road holding available in the stock car market I think it is also fair to compare it to a BMW which is one of the WRX STI's direct rivals.

Eish man 3.9sec in the 0 - 100 dash is no longer a goal sorry,...and I don't have to go to Porsche or scuby for a 300kw odd car...i drive one daily and it is a bmw with stock wheels!!!!Thumbsup2

Firstly it is a goal... The new 998 Turbo has a new engine, uprated twin turbo's and is unable to beat a 3.9 seconds 0-100 of its older brother from 2005. 3.7 Seconds is the fastest Porsche available which is the Turbo S. The new Audi R8 V10 manages a 3.9 which knowing Audi is probably a 4.1 or 4 as they tend to over rate the R8.

Gallardo, AMG etc etc are all at the 4 second post and struggling to go any faster.

I dont care if a car has 900kw... Or 147kw. Its how it uses that power. The V10 R8 is German Engineering at its best and it just manages a 3.9 second sprint. Whereas the Porsche is a flat 6 with twin turbo's and it did it with absolute ease 9 years ago. The R8 has almost 100kw more! There are a huge amount of BMW's that can put out close to 300 or more kw as seen at Veemax.. But the stock chassis will never handle as well as a factory Subi or Porsche which is designed to use and control that sort of power.

Without suspension modifications, superchargers, remaps and hardware changes in a stock BMW you will never get the same performance... That to me is what makes a car fast. The fact that you can buy it from the factory and not have to alter it in any way.

I appreciate you have a very fast car. But in my opinion it isnt in the same class (read that as category) of that of a supercar. When BMW produces (Concept cars mean nothing) a stock supercar that will eat Porsche and Audi (The 2 biggest players in the supercar segment at the moment, BMW is nowhere to been seen. Even an underpowered Jag XF is voted higher than a M5) then I will gladly take back what I have said.

Matt's car is brilliant for what it is. As I have said... Its a different beast to anything around it because it is rare and is extremely powerful for a M3. I like it for what it is.
