I see people are moving on from putting ///M badges on non M cars to putting ///M stripes on kidney grills of non ///M cars. :biglol:

This is really normal. It's not like the ///M badge, trying to make it something it's not.
M sport cars look good with the kidney stripes, its not in the same league at all in my opinion.

So adding an M badge or M anything to a NON-M car is now for colour  Now I have heard it all

What, are the kidney stripes M car specific? Do they come like that, as they do with an M badge?
Not being snarky, I really don't know. I didn't think they did, I thought it was just something people do if they want because it looks nice sometimes.

I agree, the stripes on the kidney grills look good and cant be compared to M badges on non M cars

Let me open a can of worms here....
Why is it that when someone stick a m badge in a non m car we are all up in arms about it...
BUT ...when we put a m bumper or side skirt or whatever part that's supposed to be on a m car on a non m car we all ooh and aah about it..
Isnt that exactly the same principle. ....I can apply all of you're arguments regarding the m badge debate to any m body part that's not suppose to be on a non m vechile

I disagree with you. If the M bumper is fitted well, to the right spec'd car, it adds aesthetic appeal to the car. The M badge is stating something, which the car isn't...

What would you deem as a "right spec'd car" ?
If it's fitted to a non m car ...it also states something that the vechile isn't. ..
You guys as true fanatics immediately picks up a non original part on a Bmw. ...be it the m badge or a bumper
Now the normal guy on the street just see the vechile and think it looks cool, they dont have a clue what the m badge really present .They don't know better.
Just to be clear.. I don't like the badge idea my self but a well fitted bumper or skirt I must agree do look good..
My point being we are trashing other people for fitting badges that don't belong but basically we are doing the same

Isnt the bumpers normally the sporty ones and not the M ones, seeing that the M cars are mostly wider in the front then the standard bmw.

Sport bumpers is fine putting it on a non M car but dont think you will be able to just fit a M bumper on a non M car. E36 maybe but not the others

Also think a sport bumper or aero kit is fine

flipppp .....its a car....a (vessel) that suppose to take you to point A and B . That's it ....
One can do what he likes with his vessel....he/she paid for it...that's the end of story
Theres so much more important things to worry about in life....I don't know why stupid things like this grates peoples balls
One day we will all die and leave all this M badges behind :=):

You got a very good point there...I never thought about it
An m sport represent a different suspension set up and different body style. ...while a true m vechile it's a totally different car all together. ..
Myself are looking for a 530d e60 m sport again. ....but to be honest I would prefer the slightly softer suspension of a non m sport
But definitely the body style of the m sport

Your logic is flawed. M Badge and an M part/accessory - similar principle.

One is a woman wearing makeup. (bumpers)

The other is a man wearing a sign saying he is a woman. (m badge)

It's all about personal taste. An ///M badge at the back adds little visual value to your vehicle, and it just makes you seem like you're trying to trick people into thinking you have an ///M car. This is how people will always see it, EVEN if you aren't trying to, and are just proud if your car and like the badge.

However, bumpers like an M3 bumper replica on a normal 3 series, or a 1M bumper on a 1 series (which a lot of people put on around here and don't get vlak for) is not the same as an ///M badge because you are visually changing a major aspect of your car because you prefer the look. It's a visual upgrade because you think it looks better. Same story as the kidney grill stripes. It looks better with it to some people, its not about pretending to be something different.

I agree .....if you do it for a cosmetic enhanced look...go for it...but in my opinion it still go's both ways
If I fit a m bumper for cosmetic reasons and the next guy fit a m badge also for cosmetic reason I have no right to criticize him . Doesn't matter if it's a big or a small visual upgrade ...it's the same principle
But if there's foul play involved I also say that ain't cool

Maybe we should rather judge the person's intensions with him sticking the m badge on than the act itself .
I have seen cars deliberately advertised as m sport and even m cars just to push for a sale because it had some cosmetic changes...and that sucks:RedNo:
Other than that i couldn't really care what a person do with his or her vehicle. ..
