M badges on non-M cars

That being said, a 320i with an M added on is one thing, but the other day I saw a 320i with the 320i removed and a "proper" M3 badge.

You think that's bad? I saw an ad on an M3 Group in the USA where a guy was selling a 320i with an M3 badge on the back. The crazy thing is, he was selling the car as an M3. Literally said it was an M3. Even though in every photo you could cleary see it was a sedan (4 doors), one small exhaust pipe. No M3 bumpers or mirrors. Just the badge.

Eventually the guys on the forum got the seller to admit to the car being a 320i.

Eish. Some people.

Someone must try that here and they'd be banned quicker than what their 320i can do from 0 - 100.

Yeah I did say that, I think its fine on those cars like Audi's S-vehicles. Although it is debated by the purists but I think its fine.

I think........

Standard or Exclusive or Luxury Line car with ///M Badges - No....No :RedNo: :YesNo:

M-Sport with factory M Badges on door sills, steering, rims - Fine as the car looks different to a standard car

M-Sport with ///M on boot-lid or anywhere else or striping - Not an ///M sunshine :thumbdo:

Newer cars like the M 135i etc, I think those are acceptable as the vehicles have achieved superior performance levels over the rest of the range. However this always causes debate.

The addition of an ///M badge on a M Sport vehicle's boot-lid is a customer request, the dealer simply removes the badge and puts the M badge on or just adds the ///M to existing badge so u get a 320i ///M 320d ///M or the owner just adds it on according to personal preference. I had a look at a few F30 brochures and the ///M on the bootlid is not listed as part of the MSport pack,
so its a request. I could be wrong about the 135i M Sport which may have a ///M badge at the back from factory.

But it all comes down to personal taste, I mean you can spec a stock 320i F30 with a full M-performance exterior package with full M-performance stripes etc
which looks amazing but has a mismatch in terms of looks vs performance.

I've owned a variety of M-Sport vehicles but never stuck a ///M badge on any of them, because that badge represents something special to me, ///Motivation and Inspiration. I don't want to be lured to a false sense of being special when I know what I aspire to own someday. Again this is a matter of personal taste.

M135/M235 comes with ///M from the factory.

The badges on the back look so out of place as they are not even OEM badges.. I see a F30 320i/d with the M badge almost everyday.

With the M twice the size of the 3 probably...

Exactly that!! If you are going to do it, at least get one that is the right size. It looks odd..

I guess people are just proud of what they have. I dont have much of a problem with it, but it is a bit silly..

To be honest, I'm actually moving camps now... I was alright with ///M on M-sport cars, but today i saw an M3 scream past me in my little F20 (rare sight in East London) and I thought to myself.. "Now thats a car that deserves that M badge."

Needless to say, now I wish I had an M3.

I have no problems and I agree people work hard and are proud of the BMW they own, which is awesome! The size is just my issue, it is non OEM badges that looks odd.
