But unless anyone is paying for my car i can do pretty much whatever i want to it

Hahahahaha why buy an expensive///M5, when I can just buy the ///M badge plus an ill fitting "5" and create your own .... if it makes you feel better go ahead! Doesn't mean people will not or should not have an opinion about it (faking).. fakes are meant for one thing which is to mislead...

I'm still with opinion that people that truly care know that its not an ///M car, and the guy putting the badge on probably knows this, but does it anyway because he/she likes it.
It only makes remote sense to me if its a BMW with at least an M-sport package, but each to their own.

Being used to trick other people, especially to sell, is another story though. That's down right immoral.

Viva la ///M Taxi!:bin:

It also applies to Merc as well.............

I saw a CLA 220d AMG and basically had those badges across the rear,
though AMG only refers to the kit it is specced with............like MSport

because of the "mine-field" out there of what is acceptable, and what is ludicrous, I personally prefer to keep my car in the state that it was meant to be when it left the factory

that way I dont go down the road of putting on the wrong mags, or non applicable badges etc

Ok... so here's the thing

All Msport models have ///M badges all over the car, either on the rims, steering, fenders etc. And it comes like this straight out the factory.

Are those owners now to go and rip off those badges???

In the same light- are we gonna start shooting down the guys that have a 335 exhaust setup on a 325/330d, or putting "m3 style" mirrors or double slat grills, competition pack reps, csl reps, etc???

These Msport models have been around for a long time and they'll continue to be around going forward. Wish I knew why its become such a debated topic all of a sudden.

Ofcourse replacing your 120i/ 220d/ 325/ 435/ 540 (just random examples) badge with a 1M/ M2/ M3/ M4/ M5 badge is plain ol silly... and we all know better.

But the fender badge seems perfectly fine to me... and its here to stay- its on every model from 1-7-X

Well said. I also cannot understand the debate here.

Also, if an owner of a 320i wants to put an M3 or C63s badge on his car, he can do so if he pleases, its his car and he is entitled to do as he pleases.

I agree with you..

Nothing wrong when done tastefully and without trying to mislead anyone, including yourself that it is something it's not.. of course acknowledging that everyone has their own taste, but then if your taste is misleading then allow us to have a taste(bite) of your taste with our opinions..

At the end of the day, our opinions might not matter to them, but we will still have them anyway..

That is not the debate. Mind you, I have a personal distaste for BMW marketing putting the word "Sport" on anything purely cosmetic, but that's another discussion.

Still not it.

This is what we are talking about, and we are in agreement.

See we are not shooting you down from improving and visually modifying the bmw to look like a sports one BUT we do dislike it when you try and make your car the same as the M as this is not the case, doesnt mean because you could buy the M sport bumpers, side skirts etc that you suddenly are driving an M now. Misleading see, to the innocent us and to yourself.

Leave the badges off, that's all.

See even my X6 friend this morning with his ///M badge, that was definitely not there via factory as the badge is smaller than the X6 badge and you can see the location is bad, no BMW tech does crappy work like that. And that X6 look the look :blowheart: , it was beautiful even just to pass it made my heart go a few beats faster than my speedometer.

Just out of curiosity to those that do not want non ///M cars to bare the ///M badge, are the ///M135i and ///M235i cars considered as ///M cars.

Come on man, don't be ridiculous. Those cars can hit 100 in almost supercar times, and have had extensive chassis tuning.
