So guys, i have been very bad at updating this thread immediately but I do have two weekends worth of maintenance so here I go...

Surprisingly on surface the car looked well maintained for a 24 year old, but what lurked underneath required some TLC, so before getting to the aesthetics I tackled the maintenance and preventative maintenance items.

All work was carried out by Nikhil and I lent a helping finger here and there but my gosh, it was a very frustrating evening trying to get things to open after being in place for 24 years...

First on the list was a clutch fluid flush and slave replacement - I seemed to be having a loss of pressure in the clutch now and then so we figured it would be good to get these items checked... Please don't be disgusted at the clutch fluid...

This pretty much covered the first phase of maintenance.. In addition I fitted a new front lip, replaced the cracked fogs as well as got rid of the brittle cracked tow bar cover in some free time :rollsmile:

Thanks to Nikhil, its been an epic learning experience working with him and his attention to detail is what made me feel at ease...

So post this phase we moved onto the next items requiring some attention this past weekend...

We tackled the sway arm bushes, end links, thermostat, did a minor flush to the cooling system as well as a complete internal spring clean where possible with some spark plug renewal....

A big thank you again to Nikhil for all his time.. The man stayed up till after 1 am to make sure he gets the car done for me to use on the public holiday this week...

Learnt a lot on this car especially resisting the urge to set it alight. Btw there was no silicone used on the thermostat housing, it was there previously which I removed :rollsmile:

So guys its been a while since my last update.. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the items changed but over the last month or so I had a little issue with the car. Either a brittle fan blade that took out the radiator, power steering and alternator belts or vice versa, either way a cooling recon was required...

Thanks to Nikhil as usual, he was with me when I got stuck and waited till almost 1 am into his birthday with me on the side of the N1 as well as getting her back on the road with a few additional maintenance items:

New radiator
New viscous clutch and fan
Alternator, Aircon and Power Steering belt replaced
and ended it all off with a full cooling flush (so needed)

We also fitted new discs and pads in the process.

The only pics I have sadly was after her clean up. (None of the actual items we replaced)

Very nice car!

Usually all the belts will snap at the same time if there is an issue with the alternator mounting bracket. Although you would have discovered this when fitting the new belts. You may also want to check your engine mounts.

Yes, thanks for this. I suspect this could be a possible cause however it was only one belt that snapped and the others popped of as a result. But I will look into it...:ty:
